I was the poster about showcases and high level tournaments having grad year for juniors/seniors.
I have heard this is definitely going to happen. What are the exact rules no idea and they are still working on the language that will be used as they don’t want it abused with 20 year old stuff. The goal of it is to align kids with their grade for tournament purposes only to help make college recruiting more efficient. If you are mad at about it no reason to argue with me because I don’t make the rules. |
To clarify, you are being a good Samaritan with passing on information and not randomly saying that you would like grade groups? Essentially, you are keeping your opinion to yourself, correct? Im sorry for asking this, it is just tiring that the delusional August troll has to try to make everyone against what they want as the boogyman. |
This is 100% you trying to start a rumor about GY showcases and also 100% you responding to yourself. Its just pathetic. Ive already given you multiple reasons why it wont work. Ive even given you multiple ways to get all players on the field the same grade in school. |
The more you try to confuse parents the more they get educated on why Aug birthdays need to play on their correct grade in school team. This is for next fall when SY starts. 11v11 = U18/U19 = ≤ 8/1/2007 = ≤ Senior 11v11 = U17 = ≤ 8/1/2009 = ≤ Junior 11v11 = U16 = ≤ 8/1/2010 = ≤ Sophmore 11v11 = U15 = ≤ 8/1/2011 = ≤ Freshman 11v11 = U14 = ≤ 8/1/2012 = ≤ 8th grade 11v11 = U13 = ≤ 8/1/2013 = ≤ 7th grade 11v11 = U12 = ≤ 8/1/2014 = ≤ 6th grade 9v9 = U11 = ≤ 8/1/2015 = ≤ 5th grade 9v9 = U10 = ≤ 8/1/2016 = ≤ 4th grade 7v7 = U9 = ≤ 8/1/2017 = ≤ 3rd grade 7v7 = U8 = ≤ 8/1/2018 = ≤ 2nd grade 4v4 = U7 = ≤ 8/1/2019 = ≤ 1st grade 4v4 = U6 = ≤ 8/1/2020 = ≤ kindergarten |
This will not be needed once SY happens this fall and Aug birthdays are playing on their correct grade in school team. This is because when Aug birthdays are playing on their correct grade in school team eveyone on the field is the same grade (graduating year). Which is what college coaches want. Holdbacks can play HS soccer and attend college camps/ids. They are also welcome to play on the correct age team whatever that is. |
This is more accurate because some kids go to school early and that doesn't affect their age group. 8/1/2009 and younger = Senior 8/1/2009 and younger = Junior 8/1/2011 and younger = Sophmore 8/1/2012 and younger = Freshman 8/1/2013 and younger = 8th 8/1/2014 and younger = 7th 8/1/2015 and younger = 6th 8/1/2016 and younger = 5th 8/1/2017 and younger = 4th 8/1/2018 and younger = 3rd 8/1/2019 and younger = 2nd 8/1/2020 and younger = 1st 8/1/2021 and younger = kindergarten |
What? Sy+30 doesn't get all the players in the same grade at all. Some kids go to school early, some are academic redshirts, some fail a grade, some skip a grade. Only way to get all players on the field the same grade in school is to go grade year. You are the only person calling for this. |
I guess… I also broke some new on the old forum that got shut down because of all the comments. I have a friend who works for USYS as well as other ECNL club directors. From what I understand this would be mostly to break up the U19 group For showcase stuff because tournaments/showcases will be U17 skip U18 and add this kids in with U19. Like in years past. But now they will allow the kids who are eligible for U18 based off the new age matrix to either stay in U19 or goto U17 if they are a current Junior only. I know nothing of forcing kids to play their grade but rather this is just to align better if kids/coaches would prefer that option. Not for league play is what I’m told. They will have to stay U19 for that. We will see how it all gets finalized as everyone has a lot on their plate currently… See ya I’ll be back in a few days or so. |
Forcing August kids to play grade year but not other months doesn't move the needle for going grade year. To few to make it worth the hassle and you can't verify their grades. No reason why August should play grade but September and July and October and June shouldn't. Unless their is an Aug girl blocking your Sept girl. |
So... Cuting through the nonsense. Because you're able to hold back kids 2x in school. u17 showcases become u19 u19 showcases become u21? Incredible magic trick. |
So "forcing" Aug birthdays to play against players potentially 13 months older is somehow worse than FORCING correct grade players to play against holdbacks up to 36 months older? Just admit that youre a hypocrite. |
What age guy really wants is a way to allow holdbacks with waivers. Which he can sell for 10k a pop to parents that want to "win" by playing down. |
| If you allowed playdowns there would literally be players atrending "u17" showcases for 3 years in a row. |
