Nanny ruined rug and chair

Anonymous
We’ve had our nanny for 2 months now. Came home tonight and walked into the baby’s room and noticed that our nearly brand new ivory rocker and the light colored rug are both stained blue. Guessing it’s from the nanny’s dark jeans that she was wearing today, but then again she wears jeans often so maybe I just hadn’t noticed before. Pretty sure both are ruined. It is extremely noticeable and really upsetting given that we just spent nearly $1,500 on these items just six months ago,

What do we do here... say something to the nanny on Monday? If so, what exactly? Not looking for her to pay for the damages but pretty annoyed and want to make sure she doesn’t ruin anything else.

Do you want to keep this nanny?

I’d let her know that her jeans are bleeding on the furniture and ask her not to wear them again to work, yes. But... you bought expensive white furniture for your baby’s room? Lol.

I can’t get over the fact that you thought light colored rocker and rugs ($1500 worth, no less!) were a good idea for a baby’s room. What if the kid has a blow out or pukes everywhere?

It was just a matter of time before these things were ruined anyway. It’s not like she did it on purpose.

Oh, op. Do you honestly expect white furniture in a baby’s room to stay clean? Really?

+1

It’s not like you didn’t know baby spit up and poop stains. What did you think would happen?

Mom of 3 here...that rocker will be ruined by the 18 month mark irregardless. Trust me.

That seems like a pretty innocuous accident. I’m not sure what to tell you. I completely understand your annoyance but I’m sure she had no idea.

Well all rockers get ruined and this is a good ruin in that it doesn't smell like sour milk or diarrhea! Score. Who cares what it looks like.

The rug is not white - it’s a light purple that is now stained blue. The rocking chair is ivory, yes.

The good news is that your nanny is rocking the baby and getting down on the floor with her!

I have light colored furniture and rugs in my kids’ rooms and we’ve never had an issue. I would be annoyed too, but unfortunately not sure what you can do about it if you want to keep the nanny.

This. You can ask her not to wear dark jeans because they bleed onto the furniture/rug but really, baby stuff is going to get a lot worse on it than blue jeans stains.

How old is your baby? Parenting is a LONG road.

Exactly. Put a blanket over the chair. Wait until your kid pukes in the crib and you can’t get it out of between the slats.

Do what the rest of us do. Throw a blanket over it and call it a day! I can't remember if when I had one kid I was like this. I dunno, maybe, but regardless that ship has soooo sailed for me!
