| I had success losing 20 pounds with diet and exercise and was on a great streak. Then Thanksgiving happened, and vacation travel for the long weekend, and my eating went slack as I indulged way more than I should (I’m doing WW and using a point system). Now back to the grind this week I’ve gone over my point allotment every day and have only worked out once. I’m too afraid to weigh myself. How do I get back on track? I don’t feel very motivated at all — i feel tired, a bit lazy, and snacky. I am afraid I’m going to gain back the weight I’ve worked hard to shed if I don’t get things in order, yet i returned to the office candy dish more than once today (def not within points range). Any advice? |

You get back on track by putting on your shoes, lacing up, and making your next choice a better one. One choice at a time.
We all slip up and have setbacks. That's ok. You didn't gain 20lbs back with an off week or two, as that would be impossible. Even if you've gained a couple of pounds back, so what? You'd still be down 17 (or so) lbs, which is awesome. Put your sneakers on and go for a walk, go for the apple, and be kind to yourself. |
| Thanksgiving was a week ago. That's not a long time, and you can recover. Say to yourself that you went on a WW vacation, and now you are back on. Skip the candy dish and drink lots of water/tea when you feel snacky. Maybe have berries or air-popped popcorn on hand (in proper WW servings of course). Track ALL food to maintain accountability. Go for a walk with a friend or sign up for a couple of walk-in exercise classes that you enjoy to get back into the workout groove. You've got this, you just have to convince yourself. |

You get back on the wagon by making the wagon easier to get back on -- make your goals a little more attainable.
Small steps, every day. Not a big "I'll start on Monday and only eat Kale" thing. Just a "I'll visit the office candy bowl ONE fewer time today than I did yesterday. And drink a glass full of water every time I do it." You can do this, OP!! |

This is all mindset issues. Consider reading up on mindset and weight loss or listening to some podcasts. I really like both “Weight Loss for Busy Physicians” but go back to the beginning. She has a roadmap on her website of which ones to listen to to get started. Another one I really like is “Half Size Me.”
I did WW for a few months, had some success and then was slipping trying to get back My groove back post summer vacations. Listening while commuting really helped, it is low cost I. Terms of time and effort and it helps keep me motivated. |
