Wtf? Why on earth would they need an autopsy? The world saw how he got killed. He was already in an open casket getting kissed by his wife the day after the shooting. Why would he need to be in the morgue on ice for two weeks?

Because they can do a ballistics investigation. Doesn’t the FBI want to know where the bullet came from to use in a murder investigation and trial?

Yeah, I think it's pretty standard to do ballistics and forensics analysis in a case like this. Are they just assuming the shooter shot from that roof because they have him on video? What if they did an analysis of the entrance and exit wounds and determined the bullet was shot from somewhere else. And did they find the bullet? You would think that would be reported -- i.e., the bullet exited Charlie and was found embedded in grass nearby, or whatever.

Exactly my point. They just have a video of him jumping off the roof. But you would still analyze the wounds, angle, any blood splatter, etc. to piece it all together.

Per the surgeon who received Charlie, he was shot in the chest, his chest caved in and the bullet ricochetted up to his neck severing his spine, paralyzing him.
It’s likely he died on impact. But it was also was reported he was briefly stable, so maybe they got him back.

This is why 200+/- cops stood outside that classroom at Uvalde while a madman gunned down children and teachers, even though all those cops were wearing vests. That's why most if not all law enforcement organizations representing cops in the USA are supportive of assault weapons bans - they don't want to encounter perps with high velocity rifles, they would much, much rather encounter perps with handguns.

High velocity rifle fire is lethal whether from grandpa’s 30.06 or from an AR-15.

The AR-15 is a weapon feared by kindergartners and police alike because it can expel many multiple rounds in a matter of seconds, while a 30.06 hunting rifle typically holds no more than 8 rounds.

If we are ever going to win the debate about firearms in the USA, it is imperative that we educate ourselves about firearms in the first place.

Your question is a good one, and the answer is that no gun control contemplated on either side would rid us of hunting rifles like the one used by Kirk’s killer.

The answer, I believe, is in loving our children no matter who they become and how different they might be from what we might have envisioned - and in loving one another as Kirk’s Christ teaches us - and example that Kirk sadly failed to live up to himself.
