To you, what's the bottom of the "elite" colleges?

Yeah, “something total idiot”!!

Penn State is just another name for UPenn. It’s all part of the same system, just one is the flagship and the other is a satellite. But you can take classes at either, and it’s all Ivy.

The joke is probably on you for taking anything on this thread seriously.

No one gives a flying F about this thread.

Let’s be honest. Stanford and UMBC use the same textbooks, published by the same publishers. Their profs are from the same elite ivy schools. I doubt any Stanford athletes are scholars. UMBC is a basketball powerhouse AND regularly (”regular”, def., “more than once”) produces Rhodes scholars. Anyone who says Stanford is elite but UMBC is not is a Cookoo Kaka Insano.

This entire thread is hilarious. Genuinely. Thank you for the laughs.

1.Harvard, Stanford
3.MIT, Princeton
5.Columbia, Yale
7. U Chicago, Caltech, Upenn
10. Duke, Northwestern, Brown, Dartmouth, John's Hopkins
15. Cornell, Vanderbilt, Williams, Amherst
19. Emory, WashU, Rice, Notre Dame, Georgetown, CMU
25. UCLA, UCB, Pomona
28. Gatech, UVA, Michigan, Tufts, Bowdoin, Wellesley

+1 there's about 30 elite schools in the country. JP Morgan CEO went to Tufts so yes Harvard might be MORE elite but the others are still part of the elite group.

This is a decent list

I went to two of the top ten universities in the world, and yes it helps me get call backs on job applications but 10+ years out, it matters less and less as time goes by, and with the rise of self-taught, more tech savvy professionals, where you went to college (and whether you even finished) is of declining relevance. As it should be! Skills over prestige.
Anonymous
The only schools where prestige actually matters is the top 15 or so schools in the country. Going to somewhere like Emory or some other place random won’t really help you concretely in terms of prestige.

I knew about 3 whites, 4 asians, and 1 black USC grads at a federal agency. out of this group, only the lone black reached the managerial level. This is a proof that college degree is less relevant than hard work, innate intelligence coupled with 99% perspiration, is what counts and recognized.

What kind of weird, thinly veiled racist rant is this? Get off the internet.

Why on earth are you categorizing people by their race? And why are you counting them? It's just weird. The kind of thing that losers with way too much time on their hands would do.

It was one of the white females who brought this up in an eeo filing. I’d not even noticed. We are all color blind, so we couldn’t see.
