If any? There better be multiple. The driver AND the parents that had the party.

If any - yes. That is why we have an investigation -- to determine the facts.

The police determined the following facts almost immediately:
1. Two people were killed.
2. The driver was illegally drinking alcohol and speeding.
3. They were illegally given alcohol by a parent at a party.

Very soon after, it was discovered that the driver had an established history of illegal drinking and ongoing problems with the law.

And since then, (warning: I shall speculate here, PP) what has happened?
Political maneuvering to drastically reduce or eliminate any consequences for the driver and the parent who gave the alcohol to the underaged drinkers.
We shall see...

Girl you need to up your Prozac prescription.

Why is everyone on a witch hunt for this kid? Do you not think he punishes himself everyday at the thought of his killing his two friends?
He should get jail time, and so should the dad hosting the party, but the way people are up in arms about not having a sentence yet...jeez.
This takes time, the Sherwood kid just got sentenced and that accident was over a year ago.

I highly doubt it. I know the police doing the investigation. I don't doubt their integrity at all.

There is some history of "rich white boy" treatment, imo.

Our DD is too young to understand yet (she's 2), but once she gets old enough to understand, I plan to take her to the site every time there is a crash like this (sadly, seems to happen at least once a year) so it will sink in with her. The fire department posted photos on twitter of the mangled car, and I'd pull that up and show it to her also. I think being at the location helps for it to sink in.

None of that really works. I remember when SADD would put the mangled car in front of the school to show the affects of drunk driving. Sadly, this story will only affect those who knew the students involved. The thing that stuck with me from HS was when my sister's friends were in an accident and had to have surgery to have rods put in in their spine and leg respectively, no one died but they were all seriously injured.

I am not on a witch hunt for the kid. I am for the parents. Only when parents start serving serious jail time will the thought start kicking in that maybe it isn't cool to give alcohol to minors. That you could be a deadbeat in jail soon instead of just a warning from the police or a fine so easily paid by most in this area. That maybe turning a blind eye could get you is serious trouble. That maybe more parents will be diligent and have other parents having their back with them so they aren't considered the "uptight" parents when they call a home and ask if parents will be there and if alcohol is being served.

The problem is not with the kids. They are young, their front lobes aren't fully developed, they have a hard time NOT making rash decisions when sober, let alone when intoxicated. But if there are parents that serve the alcohol, or pretend not to know or care, they are showing kids it is in fact okay to drink. There is a social stigma that needs to change.

Well said. Bravo! This poster is exactly right.
Listen-up Montgomery County, if you care about your kids. The next dead kid in the headlines could be yours, even though you're thinking, "no, not MY kid." Sure. Right. Do you even know your kid? I mean REALLY know your kid? His friends? Their parents? Their values?
And the parent supplying the booze could be the one who you think is such a great generous person. Your kids certainly think so!

Montgomery County needs to indeed CHARGE the North Potomac father who supplied the alcohol to underaged kids at the party in his home. That is a CRIME and MUST be treated as such. With JAIL time. Even 48 hours for him would be better than NOTHING.

So far Montgomery County is still protecting the alcohol supplier, and has not even released his name or the location of the crime site.

Until Montgomery County law "enforcement" stops this pandering to its wealthy and politically "connected" residents, the teen drinking and driving shall continue.

How many more kids must die until caring parents and citizens of Montgomery County band together and DEMAND better for their own children?

The time to BREAK the SILENCE is NOW. Your kid's LIFE may depend on it.

Different poster here. What do you mean by witch hunt? Trying to create a problem where there isn't a problem? Please explain what you mean. Thank you.

Shouldn't we all be? Why aren't you? What if it were your kid that was killed? I'm not sympathetic to the parents at all.

People are up in arms because they know that the mystery person who gave the minors the alcohol just before the deadly car crash, will get off with zero jail time for his crime. Compare that to the poor guy in SE dc who got caught sharing his illegal drug stash with some neighborhood kids looking to celebrate their recent high school graduation and acceptance to college.

No one needs to get killed or even get hurt in that scenario, but you know who's going to jail, don't you? Mostly likely not just the guy who shared his drug supply, but the kids to! And no one in DC government is going to let a single one of them on out on the streets to "punish himself every day with the thought of" anything.

Wake up, Montgomery County, your law enforcement rules are only for the poor, not the wealthy well-to-do and well-connected with local politicians. This corruption will only result in more dead bodies. This is not what anyone wants, is it?

I don't think so. They issued almost $100,000 in citations to a parent host in Darnestown last year. That party with a bunch of Walt Whitman High kids in Bethesda about three years ago. They got cited. The Magas family in Damascus. Charges dropped by the court. But the police definitely charged them.
