Why is everyone on a witch hunt for this kid? Do you not think he punishes himself everyday at the thought of his killing his two friends? He should get jail time, and so should the dad hosting the party, but the way people are up in arms about not having a sentence yet...jeez. This takes time, the Sherwood kid just got sentenced and that accident was over a year ago.
I am not on a witch hunt for the kid. I am for the parents. Only when parents start serving serious jail time will the thought start kicking in that maybe it isn't cool to give alcohol to minors. That you could be a deadbeat in jail soon instead of just a warning from the police or a fine so easily paid by most in this area. That maybe turning a blind eye could get you is serious trouble. That maybe more parents will be diligent and have other parents having their back with them so they aren't considered the "uptight" parents when they call a home and ask if parents will be there and if alcohol is being served. The problem is not with the kids. They are young, their front lobes aren't fully developed, they have a hard time NOT making rash decisions when sober, let alone when intoxicated. But if there are parents that serve the alcohol, or pretend not to know or care, they are showing kids it is in fact okay to drink. There is a social stigma that needs to change.
Well said. Bravo! This poster is exactly right. Listen-up Montgomery County, if you care about your kids. The next dead kid in the headlines could be yours, even though you're thinking, "no, not MY kid." Sure. Right. Do you even know your kid? I mean REALLY know your kid? His friends? Their parents? Their values? And the parent supplying the booze could be the one who you think is such a great generous person. Your kids certainly think so! Montgomery County needs to indeed CHARGE the North Potomac father who supplied the alcohol to underaged kids at the party in his home. That is a CRIME and MUST be treated as such. With JAIL time. Even 48 hours for him would be better than NOTHING. So far Montgomery County is still protecting the alcohol supplier, and has not even released his name or the location of the crime site. Until Montgomery County law "enforcement" stops this pandering to its wealthy and politically "connected" residents, the teen drinking and driving shall continue. How many more kids must die until caring parents and citizens of Montgomery County band together and DEMAND better for their own children? The time to BREAK the SILENCE is NOW. Your kid's LIFE may depend on it.
These are the two most best posts on this subject so far!!!!!!
