NP but let me answer your question..s? Did you used to watch the duggars tv show when it was on tlc? Yes And if so why did you watch it? Yes |
Yes isn't an answer to a why question. So what reason did you watch the show for? What was your opinion of the duggars? |
I sure hope we don't know you either--I mean, there's always a risk of our kids dating your kids if we're acquainted, and all this putting on appearances of godliness and purity while helping persecute people who don't conform to your world view and doing very unsavory things behind closed doors is stuff I really don't want my children exposed to... |
Ever wonder why you and other fundamentalists are (rightly) the butt of jokes? Weird misreadings of people, for one. My dislike, not hatred, of this merry band of nincompoops stems from my very rational annoyance at this family's politicking and that by their brain dead and hateful works, so do people begin to think of Christ that His message is equally brain dead, hateful and not worth living. And NO ONE is happy that at least five girls were assaulted. No one. Many of us who've known families like this assumed there were massive crimes like this, but no one is joyful about it. You take a sick glee in assuming so, which does not suggest nice things about you. |
NP: at first I found it interesting, then it became a trainwreck, then it became supplemental to reading about the behind the scenes on freejinger and twop |
Fundamental Christians make me ashamed to be Christian and shame on you for making me feel that way!
Mark 12:31 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." What is so hard to understand about that? Why are you so stuck in the old testament? Why are you so stuck on homosexuality? |
I'm not a fundamentalist. I don't go to church. I'm getting ready to have a vodka with orange juice in about 10 minutes. I stopped reading after you called me a fundamentalist becaus the rest was probably blah, blah, blah... |
If you think the duggars are a train wreck, why would you spend so much time watching their show and reading websites about them? I'm trying to understand this mindset. I watched the show when I had cable, but I watched it because I thought they were a great family. I was entertained by them, but not because of anything negative. I just find it so odd that there are so many people who hate them, but they are spending so much time watching, reading and posting negative stuff about them. It's weird to me. |
Because it is entertaining. Which is what TV is for. |
NP. I didn't watch the show. I think all reality shows are stupid and more about fame than what they claim the show is about. It seems TLC exploits families and parents that are seeking fame and money. Sad. I never wished anything bad happen to any of these families. I just wish TLC was more about learning and less about exploiting. |
I don't think you should have so many kids that you can't ensure their safety.
|
Not that PP. I've watched the show a few times, and read about them. I've spent a lot of time reading No Longer Quivering, as well as Krakauer's book about FLDS. Why? Because it is interesting, and a part of our country. I'm a PK of a minister in a mainline church, BTW, and these stories are so far from my childhood or my faith. |
I know that, i watched the duggars for entertainment too. But what I'm asking is why would you read, watch and posting negative stuff about people that you hate? When I was young I used to watch the real world on mtv, well lots of shows on mtv, but as I got older, I realized that the shows were a train wreck and I disagreed with a lot of the stuff they were showing, so I stopped watching it and found other things to watch. I can't imagine comtinuing to watch some show that was so against what I thought was right, and then spend more time reading about it online, and then participating in conversations to discuss how much I cant stand the people on the show. Seems like the only thing that would accomplish is to bring a bunch of negativity into my life. I watched the real housewives of Orange county before, and also thought of it as a bit of a train wreck, so I didn't continue to watch. I can't imagine thinking it's fun to spend time watching people that I don't like on tv, that doesn't seem like real entertainment to me. |
What does this mean? What's PK? |
Preacher's kid. In my case, my father became a minister in his 50s, but our family was always very involved in our church. |
