Bethesda Soccer On Way Down

That was a troll quetion last week, now look how the tea leaves have changed.

My guess is they prioritize the girls program because of said monopoly and boys go to ECNL opening up MLSN spot for VRSC

Doesn’t that question presuppose ECNL threatening to take away Bethesda’s girls teams if they don’t give up MLS NXT? Is there any reason to think ECNL would take away Bethesda’s grandfathered status?

MLSN doesn't need BSC though so money on girls side becuase of Rec mainly drives falling on the sword and switching boys over to ECNL. Achilles and Potomac are the real winners here!

When Achilles gets all MLSN age groups next year there will be plenty of spots for Bethesda defectors.

Why would they give them more teams/age groups if they can't win a match with the ones they have now?

Depends on where you live. Potomac, Rush, DCSC, or PPA. I know none of these programs are “Bethesda,” but Bethesda’s second and below teams aren’t “Bethesda” either. If your DD moved as a group to one of these other programs, even better. A former Bethesda coach recently joined Paragon to help build its program; they would be a great option if you could bring some numbers.

2010. Potomac first team lost every game last season. Rush first team disbanded, which was a shame. Juventus top 2009 team also folded. PPA is great, agree, but so many players that they have 2010s playing in 2009. Don’t know Paragon but will look. My point is if you can’t make Bethesda top team and live in MoCo, there are so few competitive options for girls that it’s crazy.

Just checked Paragon. Boys only.

Not nice, especially during the holidays season

What storm is that?

Exactly! Bethesda looks like they have it all together, but internally, they’re crumbing

I am in no way a fan of BSC’s leadership and would be thrilled if it turned over completely, but you are really reaching with this one. It makes much more sense to focus on the current ineptitude and arrogance of those running the club and treating it like it’s their own kingdom.

This entire thread is a stretch, so why stop there? Let’s call out youth soccer coaches and publicly expose them. Like let’s get a grip people. This entire thread is hilarious.

Anyone who actually knows anything about BSC knows that this entire thread is neither a stretch nor hilarious. In fact, some of these topics are constantly discussed by parents on both the boys and girls sides.

Is some stuff in here exaggerated, over the top, hyperbole or whatever you want to call it? Sure. Is some of it made up or false? Probably. This has gotten so long and who knows how many trolls and people with an axe to grind have made sh*t up.

But I know dozens of Bethesda families who have personal stories on some of these topics and I’ve been involved in countless conversations spanning years on these topics with countless Bethesda families.

The general themes in this thread are very much real and there are many people with legitimate concerns. That’s not a stretch and it’s certainly not hilarious when we’re talking about, amongst other things, mistreating kids and abusive behavior.

Dozens of families? Countless conversations? Spanning years? You do know no one is forcing you to stay? I also think Bethesda is a lousy club, so I voted with my feet. If more people did the same, rather than anonymously posting on DCUM or complaining amongst themselves on the sidelines, something might actually change. But this is DC, so we’d rather just rant. Definition of insanity?[/quote

Who said I stayed? And btw current parents still blab with former player parent friends.

Why would MLSN go to an organization such as VRSC with

A) zero track record and
B) no reputation
C) no college commits despite their almost 10 years of existence

over Loudoun which

A) has been around for decades
B) actually HAS a track record and proven
C) established with college connections

Loudoun/nva will go mlsn? They did apply last year
