I am in no way a fan of BSC’s leadership and would be thrilled if it turned over completely, but you are really reaching with this one. It makes much more sense to focus on the current ineptitude and arrogance of those running the club and treating it like it’s their own kingdom.

This entire thread is a stretch, so why stop there? Let’s call out youth soccer coaches and publicly expose them. Like let’s get a grip people. This entire thread is hilarious.

Appreciate your perspective, but let’s not reduce serious concerns in youth sports to mere comedy. This thread isn’t about stretching for attention—it’s about addressing real issues in youth soccer: lack of accountability, exploitation of families, and the prioritization of profits over player development.

Calling out unethical practices isn’t about ‘exposing’ for sport—it’s about protecting the integrity of the game and the experience for young athletes. If that strikes you as funny, maybe it’s time to reevaluate what’s truly important in this space.

The level of stretching you’re doing from possession of a firearm 17 years ago to the current experience of young athletes is in fact, laughable. They are not related.

Defending this on the forum won’t change a thing. These allegations seem serious and could just be the tip of the iceberg. You can downplay it all you want, call it a non-issue, or cry foul—but this time, it’s clear people are determined to bring the truth to light. Looks like they picked the wrong people to cross, and it’s going to be hard to dismiss what’s coming

And what pray tell is coming from this?

Much of what has been posted in the thread is neither a stretch nor remotely funny. There are many very good reasons to think that most of the BSC leadership should be ousted and the club governance process should be made more transparent and accessible to the families who pay a lot to be part of this not-for-profit that should be serving the community instead of enriching a bunch of good ‘ol boys. However, in my opinion a decade+ old weapons charge that was settled for a fine of $100 and unsupervised probation is not, alone, something I’d be particularly concerned with.

Anyone who actually knows anything about BSC knows that this entire thread is neither a stretch nor hilarious. In fact, some of these topics are constantly discussed by parents on both the boys and girls sides.

Is some stuff in here exaggerated, over the top, hyperbole or whatever you want to call it? Sure. Is some of it made up or false? Probably. This has gotten so long and who knows how many trolls and people with an axe to grind have made sh*t up.

But I know dozens of Bethesda families who have personal stories on some of these topics and I’ve been involved in countless conversations spanning years on these topics with countless Bethesda families.

The general themes in this thread are very much real and there are many people with legitimate concerns. That’s not a stretch and it’s certainly not hilarious when we’re talking about, amongst other things, mistreating kids and abusive behavior.

Dozens of families? Countless conversations? Spanning years? You do know no one is forcing you to stay? I also think Bethesda is a lousy club, so I voted with my feet. If more people did the same, rather than anonymously posting on DCUM or complaining amongst themselves on the sidelines, something might actually change. But this is DC, so we’d rather just rant. Definition of insanity?

People here often suggest than Bethesda has a monopoly on Montgomery County, so they have no choice but to send their kids there. That is true with respect to the first teams at each age group and gender, but it is absolutely false for all the other teams, especially on the girls side. The reality is that Bethesda’s second teams are not good from a results perspective and they are awful from a development perspective (particularly on the girls side) and second team players have zero chance of being promoted to the first team, so there is no reason to stay with the club unless you are on the first team. So stop hurting your kids by leaving them in a dead-end situation just so you can say your kid plays at Bethesda. Until a meaningful portion of those second, third, fourth, and fifth team players leave, nothing will change, and the only reason they don’t leave is their parents’ fragile egos.

No Achilles for girls. You said especially on girls side above. Assuming you are PP.

Depends on where you live. Potomac, Rush, DCSC, or PPA. I know none of these programs are “Bethesda,” but Bethesda’s second and below teams aren’t “Bethesda” either. If your DD moved as a group to one of these other programs, even better. A former Bethesda coach recently joined Paragon to help build its program; they would be a great option if you could bring some numbers.

So is BSC going GA to keep MLS NXT?
