I understand I’m from not the south and it’s generally a whole other universe to me, but I don’t believe they could’ve handled this clear fabrication any better. Especially as family and friends still continue to lie to media and the public. It would’ve been so much easier to make a statement thanking LE and everyone who came out and supported them and now that Carlee is home, the family is going to take some time and require privacy to do so. It would’ve even been reasonable to say school pressure is tough and sometimes people need a break etc etc. But between the fighting physically yet somehow having the foresight to grab her Target snacks, this girl is a real nutcase.

Are you such a snob that you expect Hoover/Alabama LE to be stupid? Check yourself.

I completely agree with the pp you're replying to... they were being complimentary, they weren't deriding them.

Most bigger LE agencies in major cities would've exposed her immediately and made her lies a spectacle by now.

They'd be afraid that the public would think they're rubes for initially falling for the hoax, so they would've rushed to expose her just as soon as they realized it... all to save face.

These cops seem to be leading with empathy, grace, patience and compassion... and isn't that EXACTLY what people wanted when they were saying to defund the police?

LE agencies around the country should take a note from this one.

You are pretending that the current political climate does not make public employees walk on eggshells when a minority group member and the media are involved.

My mom likes to remind me that when she was 25, my dad was the dean of a phd program, and my mom would host the 15+ phd students and their SOs to a full seated meal at our home.

Why would she like to remind you of that? Bizarre.

I find it amazing a professor had space to sit 30 for a plated dinner. I make lots of money and couldn’t do that. Not enough china or space.

The whole story would not happen nowadays. Maybe they lived in Country Bumpkin land (where big houses are cheap?)

The average PhD program takes 5-7 years to complete. People tend to do post-docs before landing a tenure track position (in science anyway). Moving from assistant to associate professor can take 5-10 years. Add another 5-10 for those who will go on to become full professors. So no, there are not a lot of deans with 25 year old wives, unless something has gone very wrong along the way. 🤫
