Yes. My point was that nobody makes these demands about amazon, GS, or the NBA. NBA guy made the exact opposite point. Not difficult to understand, if you just try a little. But there are many other reasons the NBA argument is stupid. For example, the stat is based on the players, and yet the NBA has almost 3X as many total employees as the players, and NBA teams themselves and arenas have many more times than that. It's a stupid example using a stupid sample by stupid people. And BTW I am certain Amazon (1,468,000) and GS (43,900) ensure they don't have racial bias in hiring using statistics and data. |
Tax breaks! |
Amazon does discriminate by age though. |
The best example that anyone has been able to pull of a biased question is the regatta analogy- runner:marathon as oarsman:regatta. That question is more than 20 years old and the example that everyone points to. If you league question actually existed, it would be the example. |
nobody makes demands that companies make sure that they aren't being biased? No, because there are laws against racial discrimination in hiring. No one expects companies, or the NBA, to reflect the general population, but apparently, we must make sure that higher ed does. |
as an Asian American back in the 80s when I took the SAT, I would not have known what a regatta is, either, and I'm guessing, neither would some middle class white person from flyover country. |
DP.. apparently, SATs are culturally bias, hence Black people score lower on SATs. But since Asian Americans score higher on SATs that must mean that they have more in common with white people. That's the argument. And yes, it's laughable and ignorant. |

Then what is your reason for AA people scoring lower? Go ahead, say it out loud. I dare you. You know you think it. Have some courage and show everyone what you really think. And that, right there, ladies and gents, is why colleges have the current policy. |
| Maybe Harvard doesn't want it's school overrun by nerds. The geek squad quad is not a good look for any university. |
not PP, but my guess is that they care less about education and put less effort. Culturally they may value more in succeeding in the areas such as sports or entertainment industry like being a rapper or singer which are all ok. Nothing is wrong with that. However if you want to improve on the education area, you have to go to the source of the problema and support and aid them to care more and put more effort in education instead of forcing it to increase the numbers artificially. |
Strawman. I didn't say math questions on the SAT were biased. I said that "math" is racist and sexist. There are many steps required to score well on the math SAT section. |
uhmm obviously you haven't checked the data. Asians score high on activities and leadership LOL |
When I took it there was a question involving the word parka. I had no idea what that was. |
Would you say that Asians score lower on the interviews because they put less effort into those areas? |
