Who's daughter is playing?

What team do you think will win? Does coaching still play as big a factor at the U12 level?

Will weather be an issue on Sunday? (looks like rain on Sunday).

Our league has parent coaches for the most part. Rec tournaments are a total crapshoot and speculating is pointless and silly because you have absolutely zero information about the team.

Big weekend coming up. Usually the big clubs (e.g. Loudoun, etc.) dominate at the younger levels, U10 and down.

Big weekend for scouting too. Lots there to watch the U8s and start targeting for travel formation in the Spring. Some have been in academy style programs and ready to make the jump. Interesting to see which kids get side offers, etc.

Agree - Loudoun will be a top contender, as will Great Falls Rec.

Will there really be scouts at the U12 tournament? Interesting!

Out kids got their butts kicked by a league from manassas last year that we had never heard of, lol.

I assume you are being sarcastic with the italicized bit.

- similar experience for our U12 girls when they played a team from (was it Springfield?). That team had some talent - but their discipline in positioning and the way they had been coached beforehand seemed to be the biggest factor in their well-earned victory.

McLean and Syc and Loudoun are strong programs so should have good teams. GFR could be good but they seem to have very mixed up teams and hit or miss coaches/behavior at tournaments.

No one is scouting these tournaments for anything other than wondering if a club can get its kids from rec to travel. No one is scouting in general. I mean really ... "So your child seems good, you've opted not to do travel in your club ... would you like to commute further and pay more to play travel with our club?" ???

That's true. The dad coach for the top GFRSC was ejected /red-carded for yelling/berating his players and repeatedly arguing with the refs.

The ironic part was the tournament organizers even posted signs at the field entrance: "Please remember: 1)these are kids 2)this is a game 3)the coaches are volunteers 4)the refs are human 5) this is not the World Cup.

Guess they anticipated incidents of "dads behaving badly."

Exactly! But I think the scouting comment was made in jest and to mock the OP. No one wants to discuss a random rec age group, especially as old as u12, where any extraordinary talent would already be siphoned off to travel.
