| Twice this morning I’m behind people who don’t know to move into the intersection on green, then turn left on yellow. |
| Drives me crazy. I go around sometimes - if they sit there for an entire light cycle. |
| These are timid drivers |
| because they suck. it must not be taught anymore. then there are the ones that go so slow when they do turn that they leave no time or space for the vehicle behind them. Meaning they have ample space to turn to avoid oncoming traffic but they time it as such that they are the only one that can cross before a new wave of cars. i also find people are scared to go even 1 mph over the speed limit these days and often drive under the speed limit. they drive like they have no purpose and nowhere to go, lost and with zero confidence staring at a map. I was almost hit head on twice last week in one trip from these nimrods on their phones. |
Because your not supposed to start your turn once the light has already turned yellow. |
Learn how to drive |
If you have no other choice, you absolutely can. As long as you’ve cleared the intersection before the light turns red, you’re fine. |
Yeah, in the city you have to if you ever want to turn. |
I find the exact opposite: people in this area drive like they are the most important person in the world and everyone should get out of their way. I usually turn on the yellow. If I don’t it’s because of the oncoming driver who can’t stop on the yellow and blows through the intersection on the red. I am not playing chicken with your oncoming counterpart just so you can get to the next light thirty seconds faster. |
| Some people are cautious making left turns, which are dangerous. I got in an accident at an intersection turning on yellow/red (like everyone says you’re supposed to) and was hit by a driver who blew the light when I thought they were going to stop. So now I’m really careful and I’m not sorry about it. You never know. |
Dear God please don't do this! An impatient woman ran over an 11-year old girl in our neighborhood who was crossing the street and killed her. The car in front of the line was waiting for the girl to cross the street and the idiot who will rot in hell was too impatient to wait one full minute, went around the car in front, and ran this poor girl over. |
That is completely different than what the OP is describing. |
| 99% percent of the time the drivers coming the other way are still speeding forward to try to make the light. By the time they have gone by it is no longer yellow and the cross traffic is waiting on you. Also, even if I decide to go on yellow/red, you the car behind me should not be going thus it should not matter to you what I do. You are waiting for the next green. |
|
You are not to enter the intersection unless you can complete your traffic maneuver.
Yes, I understand the practical implications of entering and waiting to turn left. I do it. It's not legal. Neither is consistently driving above the speed limit. |
