My mom is a teacher. A few years back one of her students died from cancer. This was a tragedy as you can imagine as the student was 4. Three years later my mom had his younger brother as a student who was just about 1 when the older brother died. One day they were walking toward the classroom and younger brother waved and laughed at someone. My mom asked him who he was waving to and he said “that’s my brother over there, he watches over me!” My mom looked at where he was pointing and sure enough the merry go round started to spin by itself very slowly.

I don’t believe I ghosts but id like to believe in this sweet older brother looking after his younger brother.

I don't have a personal ghost story, but I believe they are out there. I can't explain why I believe, I just do.

My sister and I saw the same two women - one standing over our beds and one sitting on my bed when we were 12 and 14.

My mom went to the ER recently and landed in ICU for several nights before being moved to regular room. She told me she saw a young man one night standing at the end of her bed.

You have to read these if you want to scare yourself. They do it every year. The "Turn Around" story I believe it is called, sends shivers down my spine. Many ghost stories, some that are so terrifying because they are real.

Thank you! Now I don't want to get out of bed all day! What a fun read.

No, they were just watching us. My sister was afraid of them but I wasn’t.

We live on land where there was a civil war battle and a church. Before we knew the history my young DC used to tell me there was a soldier and small children that visited our backyard occasionally. Small gifts would turn up in strange places like old tools, metal bits, a coin and lost keys. Our ghosts were helpful.

We live in a neighborhood that was part of George Washington's property and there are lots of stories of ghosts in old fashioned clothing - same in Old Town Alexandria. DH was just talking about it with a neighbor the other day.

Our resident ghost is from this century though and died here at the house - we found this out years after we moved in and long after we knew we had a ghost. He's friendly, has a sense of humor and quieted down after we asked him to, although we did end up removing all the doorbells because he liked to ring them among other things. DD when younger saw at least 2 ghosts here as well and described them in great detail and still as an adult remembers one, a young preschool age girl, in particular down to the smallest details of clothing - colors and all. The other ones were more like the amorphous ghosts of ghost stores.

I also grew up in a house with a ghost and similar to our current house, my parents learned about it years after moving in and well after the ghost caused enough disturbances that babysitters called the police thinking someone had broken in the house. The ghost was a mentally ill adult child of the former owners and was very attached to the house he grew up in - he visited daily after my parents bought it and one day stopped coming by. Then a few years later they heard he committed suicide. They had the house blessed and asked him to move on and things did quiet down but I was always fearful and realized that was probably why when my mom told us about it years later.

A friend and I were driving down a steep road with no shoulder or place any pedestrian could get off. We both saw a thin man in an old fashioned prison outfit (the stripped ones) running a head of us on the side of the road. We drove past and then looked back and he was gone. I promise you there was no place he could have gone in those seconds. He just vanished.
