| Considering joining and hope to reduce my very high monthly grocery bill. We are a family of 4 with small to medium amount of storage. I think I’ll make it there once per month or so. Any tips on what’s a particularly good deal? Thanks! |

nuts and jerky. good quality cheese and meats (I don't always spend less there but it's good quality). paper plates, toilet paper, diapers. Cold medicine.
You just need to make sure what you are buying will get used up. I tend to avoid much of the produce as it doesn't ripen or we can't use it up once it does (and I have a very large family). I do buy strawberries and avocados there. |
| It really depends what you normally eat. We regularly buy lamb chops, salmon, chicken, beef tenderloin, berries, peppers, smoked fish spread. My new favorite is the taco dinner kit. But there are also good deals on things we don’t eat enough of to warrant Costco quantities like yogurt, cheese, etc. |
| maple syrup, organic peanut butter, irish butter, tomato sauce, organic bananas. Costco can be dangerous because of its quantities so make sure you will use items quickly before they expire. |
We are a family of 4 (2 teens and their parents), and the produce is what I love. We do go through the strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in a week, and love having watermelon. We tried the avocados, but they went bad before we could keep up with eating them. I also love the fresh salsa. We have a second fridge in our basemt where we store organic milk and the Greek yogurt among other things. |
| I buy olive oil, toilet paper, paper towels, reasonable quantities of meat to freeze, razors, liters of shampoo and conditioner, big packs of toothbrushes, face products (some really good prices). I’m sure much more I’m not thinking of. We are only 2 people so I’m really careful about what I buy but it is really super handy for some things. |

The blocks of Parmesan cheese are an amazing deal. 1/3 of the price of what you find elsewhere. Aged 24 months and soooo good.
Also the avocados are a great deal, especially if like mine you have a few kids who eat them regularly. If you go to the DC Costco, the wine, beer, and hard alcohol is a great deal. |
| What don't we buy at Costco? From food to clothes, cleaning supplies to eye glasses, flowers to supplements, cooking oil to organic meats, lunch box staples to stationary. We have bought furniture, mattress, sofas, potting soil, playsets, christmas decoration, petfood, plants, daily meats and platters, birthday cakes and frozen foods, diapers and flooring. |
| Yogurt, frozen snacks, clothes, books, chocolates, gift baskets, gas and wine. |

Things that are a great deal: cheese, rotisserie chickens, meats (if you don’t mind dividing and freezing), drinks (various), packaged foods (various), out of season produce (sometimes, and make sure you’ll eat it before it spoils), some frozen foods, pharmacy and OTC medication and toiletries (sometimes), tires/car batteries, optical (if you need). Sometimes clothing and other housewares (towels dishes etc). Lightbulbs and batteries. Sometimes big ticket items.
I find heir produce is usually more expensive than my local grocery store unless out-of-season. Also Costco is larger quantity than we can finish. We really try to avoid impulse buys and only buy packaged/pantry foods when on sale (because most of it goes on sale eventually). |
| In the good ol days, Costco would develop all our photos. |
