| My daughter is a senior and she has never had a boyfriend or dated in anyway at all. This would have been pretty unusual in my day. Is this fairly common now, or still somewhat outside the norm? |
| So far I have a senior who has dated three girls, and junior who doesn’t date, but has lots of friends. |
| My parents did. Nobody ever asked me out. And I certainly wasn't going to ask anyone out. |
|
My parents did as well.
The one guy who asked me out, my dad refused to let me go. So, I did not date either. And, yes, my family has been in the US for generations. I had better luck dating in college once I got away from.my parents. |
| Yep my son is now a high school senior and as never had a girlfriend. But his best friend since 4 years old is a girl, she's like a sister to him (he's an only child). We sometimes jokingly say they make a cute couple to which he just rolls his eyes and laughs sarcastically. |
|
My son, a healthy well-adjusted college sophomore, did not date in high school.
He had friends and they traveled in a pack. Guys and girls. |
| I've got an 11th grade DD who is not dating. I (female) didn't date either until my second year of college. |
| I didn’t date in high school. Still managed to get married and have kids as an adult. |
| It is pretty normal now. About half of all students graduate high school as virgins. Many have never been in a relationship. College and the 17-19 ages seem to be more when the dating starts now. |
|
DH and I never dated in high school, we hope that none of my kids do. Blooming late is a good thing sometimes... |
| My college senior DD has never dated, but that’s primarily related to her issues with social anxiety. |
|
That was me in the 80s. beautiful and asked on many dates by hs and college guys (and the rest) but never went on one because I was too nervous / not ready / into studying
its fine and its normal |

I have nine nieces and nephews who have been through or are in high school (so far), and of them all only one had a boyfriend in high school. And it was So. Much. Drama.
I think it is not so much a thing with this generation. |
He’s probably gay. You should stop making that joke; it’s not funny. |
| My college graduate DD started to casually date in senior year of college. She has a lot of friends and is super social. She has friends who run the gamut of sexual experience and sexuality. GTLB, super religious with chastity vows, on tinder, sugar baby, super nerdy, super slutty, heterosexual, metrosexual, all races, religion and ethnicity... so there is all kinds of drama with her friends. |
