Full change for all players no playing up, will allow some kids to play up depending on coaches decision, will let Aug-Dec players who are grade above play up to stay with school grade team (if they are at the level to make the team).

Its hard because rational people see that kids want to play on teams with other kids that are their grade in school. Age guy wants plastic trophies and doesnt care what his kid would prefer.

Coaches are stuck in the middle. They know that Aug birthdays playing on the team thats their grade in school is the way to go. But the play downers are always looking to ways to cheat by playing their kid down against younger players. Which makes things difficult.

How is being the oldest kid within your age group cheating? So are January birthdays cheating under the current BY?

Next year, Aug Birthdays play on age, or up on age. They can’t play down, so there can’t be play downers cheating anyone. Just accept that you’re wrong and that your kid isn’t good enough to make the team that they want to play on without forcing some one else to play up on age so that your kid can keep spot on team.

They must be trolling or have an agenda. If they are focused on college recruiting for the sake of the August kids, I may listen to their point of view, but accusations of cheating are most likely an indication of an agenda that's faltering.

There's a specific college recruiting category just for August born kids that everyone is unaware of?

Its the mentality of looking for ways to play down vs playing on a team thats a players grade in school.

Think outside of soccer. Who are the parents looking for ways to play their kid down against younger players? If you've ever played a sport in America theres always one or two of these on any team. Also you've probably experienced these kind of players get all the opportunities at first then over time filter right back to the bench or they quit. In football I remember one guy whos parents held him back and he was on steroids for his "allergy". The guy looked like a monster to kids in 7th grade. But by the time he was a junior in hs his hair was falling out and he didnt get much taller which made him shorter than most on the tean. All his parents manipulation of the rules didnt make a difference because mentally even with the steroids he didnt have what it takes.

This is how most play downers end up. Theres usually some kind of snowplow parent that lacks ethics pushing to get their kid whatever advantage possible in the background.

We aren't talking about playing down. August kids who play with a lower grade are playing on AGE. Is that so hard to understand?

Playing down in other sports happens due to reclassifying where kids can be 1-2 years older than their grade.

Once again I ask, is it that hard to understand?
Can't play down in ECNL but can bioband in MLSN1.

I see that Age guy has resorted to posting incorrect information again. Sad and pathetic.

Heres the correct matrix for this fall when SY starts.

11v11 = U18/U19 = 8/1/2007 + younger = Senior
11v11 = U17 = 8/1/2009 + younger = Junior
11v11 = U16 = 8/1/2010 + younger = Sophmore
11v11 = U15 = 8/1/2011 + younger = Freshman
11v11 = U14 = 8/1/2012 + younger = 8th grade
11v11 = U13 = 8/1/2013 + younger = 7th grade
11v11 = U12 = 8/1/2014 + younger = 6th grade
9v9 = U11 = 8/1/2015 + younger = 5th grade
9v9 = U10 = 8/1/2016 + younger = 4th grade
7v7 = U9 = 8/1/2017 + younger = 3rd grade
7v7 = U8 = 8/1/2018 + younger = 2nd grade
4v4 = U7 = 8/1/2019 + younger = 1st grade
4v4 = U6 = 8/1/2020 + younger = kindergarten

The problem is college coaches recruit by graduating year aka grade in school. Which is why you want to play on the correct grade in school team.

Bending the truth again.

College coaches dont care about age because they only care about graduating year or grade in school. This determines when they can communicate with players and when they can show up on campus.

This is why playing on the correct grade in school team (and not being misaligned) is so important.

Really won’t be a huge deal as there will be kids who are hold backs as well as kids that started early that are misaligned with the majority of the kids in the same grade on their team. Clubs will kit force kids up they will definitely allow it. Not the same thing.

But they said they don't care what age group you are in, just be the best player you can be. Remember, the youngest quits. Seems like what you want that Aug kid to do instead of taking your kids spot.

Below is the same info. But I've removed July 31st because its not needed (leagues allow playing up) and added in grade and game type. This is the information that parents need. Its ironic that we're changing from BY to SY because of trapped players and grade in school. But US soccer wont include grade in school on its matrices.

11v11 = U18/U19 = 8/1/2007 + younger = Senior
11v11 = U17 = 8/1/2009 + younger = Junior
11v11 = U16 = 8/1/2010 + younger = Sophmore
11v11 = U15 = 8/1/2011 + younger = Freshman
11v11 = U14 = 8/1/2012 + younger = 8th grade
11v11 = U13 = 8/1/2013 + younger = 7th grade
11v11 = U12 = 8/1/2014 + younger = 6th grade
9v9 = U11 = 8/1/2015 + younger = 5th grade
9v9 = U10 = 8/1/2016 + younger = 4th grade
7v7 = U9 = 8/1/2017 + younger = 3rd grade
7v7 = U8 = 8/1/2018 + younger = 2nd grade
4v4 = U7 = 8/1/2019 + younger = 1st grade
4v4 = U6 = 8/1/2020 + younger = kindergarten
Grade doesn't equate perfectly (=) to birthdates. Always been the problem. Age based is not grade based. Kids go to school at different times, get held back, bounce grades and sometimes go to schools without grades. Birthdays are factual. More importantly, the rules are set by DOB.

The problem is college coaches recruit by graduating year aka grade in school. Which is why you want to play on the correct grade in school team.
College coaches told Eastside they don't care your age group. They will recruit from all HS age groups if eligible, transfers and foreign, and evaluate the player not their team

Bending the truth again.

College coaches dont care about age because they only care about graduating year or grade in school. This determines when they can communicate with players and when they can show up on campus.

This is why playing on the correct grade in school team (and not being misaligned) is so important.

Are you saying that college coaches can't communicate with and recruit misaligned players? That doesn't make any sense. Why would you make that up?

Sept. kids not the oldest, August kids are.

It's over.

Im providing factual data in an aligned format. You dont like it because you know that once people associate club level with grade in school. Which everyone will do because it plays a role in college recruiting. That Aug parents will choose to play their kid on the correct grade in school team.

11v11 = U18/U19 = 8/1/2007 + younger = Senior
11v11 = U17 = 8/1/2009 + younger = Junior

It's not factual, there are July kids who will be in lower grades than the ones you are listing. What happens to them?

I cant fix everything. July birthdays will have to play in whatever age defined group they fall in. There are very few schools that actually started in July.

Players in this situation will end up like hold backs. This is because playing down is not allowed.

Can you update the matrix to include this scenario? I'd like to share the matrix with parents on my kids team but want to make sure grade alignment accounts for all the kids

Its already covered.If your school started in July or players were held back they will be older than 8/1 which is the date US Soccer chose to make the oldest for each level in club. If they're older than 8/1 but in a lower grade theres nothing that can be done because you cant play down. They will not be able to play on the "correct" grade i. school team until u18/u19.

But then they can't play on grade until its too late. Are they out of luck for college recruiting?

Not GY because you cant play down and 8/1 is the oldest player can be for each level. (No holdbacks)

If it's not grade year, then what is it exactly? Serious question.

My kid is a misaligned August player. He's also on an advanced track so maybe graduates early. Should we ask to play him 2 grades up? He would surely warm the bench quite a bit.
