I do not get what is happening with this level of lawlessness in DC. What the hell? How can so many riders gather with so little police presence?
Why are our city leaders ignoring DC residents on so many issues of concern? https://www.popville.com/2019/08/report-man-hit-dirtbike-atvs-washington-dc/?fbclid=IwAR0GFc9NVFnm3NqqVdFcDVN7eJN3x5geJxdJfFzQTJwDOPsdBru6utzcPFs |
| This has happened before. These sh*ts do it to taunt police and the public. And they get away with it every time. They even do it down Connecticut Ave. |

every summer.
every freaking summer. |
|
This happens all the time. I've even seen it in Baltimore.
They have nothing better to do |
|
OP here. How can police stop this? I get that it might be more dangerous to try to chase individual bikers, but when it's a group, surely there are ways to make it stop, or at least disperse?
Are they really stuck just letting this happen? |
I've seen it twice by Nats Stadium. I don't get how police never get tipped off that they're assembling, or if they do, why nothing is done... |
| I thought this was ending? |
| MPD has a policy of harm reduction. No they don’t like it, no it’s not legal. However, the only time we’ve had an injury was during a police chase, so it’s a policy not to chase. There used to be a program where you could rat out your neighbors for having dirt bikes and ATV’s. I think it was overturned because there’s nothing illegal about possessing the vehicles. Technically you could be riding them on a private farm somewhere. Now police are relying a camera footage of the riders to catch the people involved. Members of the public may not see it, but the police often know the individuals on the bikes and ATV’s. They’re trying to find the safest ways to intervene. |
| It’s the worst when they do it on 495 . For PC reasons they don’t enforce the laws |
|
So what are the police supposed to do to stop them? What do you think they should do? I guess you probably think they should be able to shoot them, huh?
They're only committing traffic violations. Not even a misdemeanor criminal offense. What are police supposed to do in your world? Chase them? Shoot them? Beat them like Rodney King? They're not hurting anyone. The only people they're endangering are themselves. So let them be. If cops chased them, they'd likely get into a crash with some other motorist. I'd sue the police if some kid they were chasing crashed into me trying to get away. You're only upset because these are groups of black kids on motorcycles. I'll bet you didn't have a problem with rolling thunder. |
| Were they self-driving dirt bikes and ATVs, or were there people riding them? |
NP. Your last accusation is ridiculous, troll. |
Eh, I don't think you're clear on the definition of "troll". Why don't you google it and get back to us. |
Rolling thunder doesn't ride up on one wheel and weave in between cars |
Rolling Thunder goes through the proper permitting process. They can no longer pay the city for extra police and other services they require when they come into town. Stop mouthing off stupid stuff and making everything into a race thing. These kids are a nuisance and someone ended up in the hospital as a result. Get lost. |
