Montgomery County is what happens when the Social Justice Warriors take over

Montgomery County has become a joke.

For the record, I'm a Democrat. A disillusioned Democrat, but still registered as one so I can have a chance to elect moderates in local elections. But I'm about to give up and move to Fairfax - where my new job is, where ALL THE JOBS ARE.
I would never vote for a Republican at the national level with the current clown circus that is the Party of Trump, but living in a One Party jurisdiction is NOT A GOOD THING.

Montgomery County politicians and the people who put them there are a parody of themselves. Their latest "community forum on policing" was 100% about complaining about how police officers are racist - absolutely nothing on how to reduce crime. the new Council and County Executive have a massive budget shortfall and dwindling tax base and what do they do? Hold a bajillion "racial equity and social justice" forums, listening sessions, galas, and fundraisers to show off their #wokeness with our taxpayer money. They replace the POW/MIA flag with the Pride flag. Every County staff hire is based around some kind of social justice and identity politics contest - you are unbeatable if you are black, disabled, and gay.

I'm a classical liberal - I'm for equality of opportunity, judging on content of our character, participating in a market equality. Meanwhile in MoCo, the Government is the biggest employer and it chooses based on identity politics and how woke you are.

My favorite thing to watch, though, is the Montgomery County Left eat itself up. It's all over Facebook and Twitter. There's the Social Justice Left (the Council and its allies) who obsess about transit-oriented LGBTQ housing and bike lanes and other things that only 1% of taxpayers would benefit from, and they are at war with the Socialist Left (the County Executive, who is a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists, and his friends), who oppose new housing developments because they are built by corporations who make money. It's pretty hilarious.

One of two things will happen. Either the two factions of the extreme left will eat each other up and the County will elect sensible moderates, or the county will continue its decline into becoming a socialist backwater. I hope it's the former, but I'm not sticking around for the latter. #Bye.

Everything does not have to be black and white.

Yes. The police are racist (my H is one).

Yes, we need to get back to basics... and I hate the grandstanding and the galas and the "fundraisers".

They are not replacing the POW/MIA flag, they are going to have both, but the pole was not equipped with 2 so they will have both up by next week.

Check out the Fairfax County Democratic Primary Results. Descano over Murrough. Palchick won Providence district instead of 2 or more sensible moderates. Our non-partisan school board elections are a sham. You have to pay to join the FCDC to vote in their endorsement election. Incidentally the school board controls a 3 billion dollar budget and "voters" in the straw vote don't have to eligible to register to vote in the general election.

That is a far larger budget /bigger deal than Takoma Park local elections. Unless you work in Fairfax County I wouldn't move since it is more of the same. Plus FX has a school board member , Harvard JD, that voted in Alexandria while serving as an appointed school board member. Got caught and my party continued endorsing Moon for decades. Moderate classic Democrats are also adrift across the river. Both jurisdictions are hyper-focused on one demographic subset.

IMO, Elrich seems to like development of MPDUs along the metro line. I think it depends on the type of development.

I really don't know what to do because the Republicans are a s%^show as well

theres a revolt in NP. People really upset in the increase in home invasions and burglaries particularly Asians and Indians really upset that county is so pro criminal
