Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

FCPS can get a critical race theory curriculum but can't get a phonics based reading curriculum?
Why can't they do both? |
you don't need to know anything about their lives to know white kids have white privilege. White privilege means they are not disadvantaged due to their race/whiteness. It does not mean they don't have issues, mental health issues, are poor, suffered a tragedy. Try reading a book. |
|
When did we ever not know that white people didn't suffer racism but that they might be poor or neglected or differently abled?
|
When we labeled them all oppressors. |
When were they all labeled oppressors? Or is this an exaggeration and attempt to confuse and discourage the people from talking about racism/white supremacy? Do you have any citations or links showing where it is taught that ALL white people are oppressors? |
I get the sense many people replying here are just pulling stuff out of thin air to make their points. Go do your own research peeps. |
Why do your own research when you can just parrot Tucker Carlson? |
Pretty much. |
| So almost 60 pages later there's nothing that points us to an actual curriculum? I've seen references to the program that the New York based company is going to implement for culturally responsive instruction... But that's not new, teachers have been receiving that instruction during professional development days for the last 4 years. |
| I’m glad that despite what you read on DCUM, most parents are not anti CRT and freaking out. The backlash against the angry LCPS SB meeting parents has been fast on social media. |
| PBS piece on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JbdKWsHeLI |
Most parents aren't even aware of the general curriculum and/or what CRT even really is. Your point is pretty silly. |
Exactly. Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham telling viewers what to be mad about. The other thing that bugs the sh*t out of me is there is an obvious LCPS and FCPS pipeline to their producers b/c of the Fox employees in the area. My experience of people who watch opinion news is that they are generally polar thinkers, easily overlooking the nuance and gray in-between. And that goes for BOTH sides. |
This PBS special has absolutely no data. There is no data about the actual teaching in schools at all and its pluses and minuses. In the entire special. It's just snippets of people talking where they are probably parsing out words. This is embarrassing for PBS. How can they put out something like this with absolutely no data? |
Where is the data? What schools is it actually being taught in? It's just another BS idea that the Republicans said is a serious problem by using words such as "left-wing" and "indoctrination of our kids." |
