Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| This survey is not a survey - they gave already decided and are going forward. If in doubt, ask your school board member. They won't refer to it that way but it is.. https://thefederalist.com/2021/05/07/fairfax-va-schools-pay-new-york-consultants-for-critical-race-theory-curricula/#.YJWTInnncqs.facebook |

As a foreigner whose kids are in public school, and who had no idea that race relations were still so bad in the USA, I think it can't be worse than what we have right now, which is nothing. Perhaps I won't be happy with the particular spin on certain concepts. But again, a little discomfort is part of the solution. If we weren't uncomfortable, it wouldn't be an efficient treatment. |

Relax. Just because the right wing media trained you to snarl when you hear this buzz word doesn’t meant you can’t uncover your own brain and thinking.
All they are doing is adding voices that aren’t represented. Is that so wrong? Color blind doesn’t exist as even a brief look at the day’s news will tell you. |
| All I can say is vote. I've never voted anything but D in my life and I"m so over all this nonsense. I never thought that I would vote R in my life but I am strongly considering it moving forward. Sadly, we have no good options. |

Some of us white people think that it's an important lesson for our children to realize their privilege. I'm glad FCPS is doing it. Better society = better America.
|
How does telling a bunch of UMC kids that they’re privileged change society at all? Do you think they don’t realize it? |
|
It really isn’t the place of FCPS to tell kids whether they are privileged or oppressed based on their “race,” or at least it shouldn’t be.
This School Board needs to be voted out in two years. If he is still around at the time the first act of the new Board should be to fire Brabrand. |
Haha, right. You saw the last four years and THEN decided to go R but never were before.

Some interesting background (had already read) but totally glosses over how CRT is now being packaged to cram down the throats of students. It’s ultimately a reductive and harmful approach to a complex subject that ends up shaming white and Asian kids and “empowers” others to go around yelling “check your privilege” and “colonizer” at other kids whenever they have a difference of opinion. |
This is me! I'm doing the same thing at the next election. I'm not white but the wrong kind of brown. Every time an Asian is assaulted in New York or SF, the comments I see on various social media is appalling.. Most are focused on making sure that the BLM name is not tarnished but show zero sympathy towards the victim! In a way, I thank Trump for making me realize that the rest of the Republicans are not so bad after all.. |
DP, but you do realize that people can decide to vote differently in local and national elections. Or perhaps you don’t, but that’s really your problem, not PP’s. You are sticking your head in the sand if you have no appreciation for the extent to which this Democratic-controlled School Board has antagonized parents. |
I am absolutely going to be a one-issue voter this November. CRT is straight out of the socialist playbook. It's insanity. |
21:51 PP. Completely agree with you! Some of these people are clueless! |
Exactly. I think more Ds may change votes precisely because the Trump years are over. The only thing that united Ds and mitigated any infighting was the fact that we all hated Trump so much. Now that he's gone, the gloves are coming off within the left and it is blindingly apparently that there's a massive schism between the far left and the moderates. We may have seen this before, but we had the anti-Trump thing to at least patch things over. I'm no longer willing to blindly vote D at the local level to see public education torn to shreds. I'd rather have a more balanced school board with differing opinions and diversity of thought than what we have now. I'm also more interested in keeping folks like Chap Peterson (who I previously disliked) in the party to ensure that we have all types of progressive voices present. I'm also going to take a really hard look at our gubernatorial elections because I can't stomach falling any further left. We need balance and I have to hold my nose and vote for even moderate Rs, I'm now prepared to do it. |
