This is a blue state bug (for now at least)

"NE & FL data not available"

WTF? How is this possible? This graph would be even worse for the Red counties since it's excluding Nebraska and Florida data.

Are FL and NE not publishing deaths by county?!?!

It's amazing how unconcerned these red states voters are.

That’s what propaganda does. Dumbs people down.

I am legitimately trying not to hop around screaming with joy.

That’s just depressing. Why aren’t red state voters up in arms? This is so unnecessary.

Let's look at the top 20 states in terms of deaths per 100k people.

LA, MI, PA. IN, GA, and MS.

Infection rates?

LA, MI, PA, SD, GA, IN, and MS.

Now maybe the governors of TN/SC/GA/FL opening too soon might lead to more outbreaks like the one around Albany NY or Rapid City SD, but as of now? It's the red states doing better on average.

TX is barely getting hit, with an infection rate 1/4 that of the national average and a death rate 1/10th the national average.

FL? Infection rate about half and a death rate about a third.

GA? Infection rate about two-thirds and a death rate about half.

What will the rejoinder be if TN, FL, GA, and SC re-open without massive amounts of illness and death by the end of May?

I mean I'm smart enough to realize it's the 2nd or 3rd inning of a 9 inning game, but come on, facts are facts right now. The red states are just doing better now.

I'm tired of hearing what a great job Governor Cuomo is doing. From where I can see it, he's presiding over infection rates TWICE that of Lombardy, and death rates that are approaching Lombardy. THAT's the model of our response right now?

I'd rather hear from Inslee, Newsome, or Brown (Oregon Gov). They seem to, well, actually be succeeding. The Northeast - and I include Maryland in this - needs to just stop telling red states what to do. They've failed to stop the virus, and to stop the deaths. Maybe the governors of MN or NM, too, they seem to be leading a decent blue state response to this virus.

This virus isn't some liberal avenger, punishing the dumb Trumpies for their dumb choices.

Either from density or from dumb luck, the blue states are getting slammed and the red states getting spared.

If it's density, maybe density isn't the solution to all our problems.

OP: Do you feel stupid now. You are the perfect example of a person who Filters information in a paradigm that supports your insanity.

To OP’s credit, he/she has come back several times and taken his/her lumps.

Meanwhile, “Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts have fully vaccinated at least two-thirds of their population, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Those three states also have among the lowest new Covid-19 cases per capita over the past week, CDC data shows.”

Yep, New England, the Mid Atlantic and the blue parts of California are riding 80% vaccination rates. Thank goodness, because those areas account for about 70% of the GDP. If those areas had irresponsible government, the US economy would be totally trashed.

Those areas wouldn’t account for 70% of GDP if they had irresponsible governments. Every government at every level gets it wrong sometimes, but all you have to do is look at which states rate higher on economy, health, education, etc., to know who is generally capable and responsible, and who isn’t.

72% of US adults are vaccinated.
71% White
71% African-American
73% Hispanic.

92% Democrat
58% Republican

@kaiser Health Poll

So let's stop with the racial divide here, it is all GOP morons who are destroying our country.

Yep. It makes no logical sense at all.

I'm a doctor, and a Democrat, and pretty progressive.

Honestly, I hate this. I've seen these discussions described as "gloating" by anti-vaxxers, and I'm not gloating. It's horrible. I didn't want you to do this. I didn't try to "cuck" you or whatever.

There isn't anything to do other than to note it, shake my head, and realize that you all are fixing the problem by setting things up so that you lose more voters in the long run.

And that isn't what I wanted, but it is what is.

PS: How about you get vaccinated, if you aren't yet, and stick around to piss in my cornflakes? Let's do that. Own me that way, not this way.

I wonder how all the deaths in red states and counties will affect the gerrymandering attempts? Do you think their models are good enough to account for deaths in their zones? Do they even know how many Republicans are dying in each district to adjust?
