Stop being selfish and move! Go where the schools are better and stop complaining or pony up for private. I am tired of reading the attacks. Move on. DC can't get ahead because of the witch hunters that come on here bitching. I said it before and i will say it again, when Rhee did this it was not a problem. New rule or not, she did the same damn thing! I am really tired of you all criticizing him for choosing his EOTP home and not wanting to send his kid to Dunbar. Would you send your kid to Dunbar if you could find a better school? I do think he should have selected Banneker or Walls and that would have caused less of a stir, especially Banneker because only black people use that school, so he would not have to worry about the jealous residents that want so badly to have their kids at Wilson, but were not willing to buy a fixer upper or a small one bedroom for their entire family to live in so they could be IB. Move on.

How greedy and small-minded of us.

Nope. I live WOTP, IB for Wilson. It's a freaking crowded school. I think it's outrageous that he wrote a rule and broke it immediately. If the rule was "DC government officials get a pass and can send their kids anywhere they want" I'd think that was a terrible policy, but I would be the policy and all I could do was lobby my officials to change it. Here we have a policy and he flagrantly went around it.

And unsettling DCPS? What horse poopy is that? It couldn't be anymore unsettled and this man certainly isn't helping.

No. I am inbound for Dunbar and used the lottery like everyone else. He got caught cheating and he’s the freaking Chancellor! He should be fired immediately.

Another thing is he took is daughter out of a specialized HS and illegally transferred her into a traditional HS.

Is Dunbar not a traditional HS?

Yes Dunbar is a traditional HS, but obviously a very different traditional HS than Wilson.

There is a mid-year lottery process. Did they even look to see if there were openings for 10th at other schools?

I wonder what’s happened along the way to people like you. You’re not alone in defending corruption. Have you been bought too? Or is the thought process that if you defend him taking his then no one should say anything when your turn comes. It’s like a corrupt third world way of thinking and I feel sorry for people that don’t expect more.

No... YOU sound so ridiculous. Rather than expect a man who's actual job it is to improve all DCPS schools to do just that, we should let him break the rules he created so his child can have special treatment, while the rest of us just get what we get? There should not be only one small section of DC with acceptable public schools. It's just wrong, it needs to be fixed, it's not sustainable. Not only was he sucking at that mission already, now he is cheating his way out of the consequences/reality of the school system he is in charge of. It. Is. Bullshit.

Character matters. I have not seen anything this man has done that has impressed me. Every time he opens his mouth he seems full of it and it appears that he did not leave the Oakland School District in good shape at all. Now we have clear evidence he manipulated the system to the benefit of his family right after he wrote rules prohibiting just that conduct by others. Yes it matters and yes he should go now.

We did buy a small fixer upper (for way less money than what her paid) for our family of four IB for Wilson, and I think what he did was outrageous and he absolutely should resign. He could have afforded a slightly smaller and less tacky house in Shepherd Park or WOTP and avoided this predicament. I don't care what Rhee did - that was before my time.

He wrote back to my friend saying that he was opening an investigation etc etc etc taking it all very seriously. How can we expect him to keep schools like Brent from enrolling whoever they want if he breaks the rules himself? Not to mention the kind of role model we want for our children. I highly doubt that anyone at Brent got into any trouble for their actions. It's such a shit show.

Wow, did that happen? Surprised there isn’t a whole thread on that

Have these been reported to MSDC?

I think Bowser will have to fire him or announce that he's staying through the end of the year, because this issue will not go away.

Even if it dies down a little, it will flare back up the day after the lottery results are out and everyone unhappy with their result is even more pissed off than normal.

This will effect her re-election. She needs to fire him, or accept his resignation, now, not at the end of the year.

Isn't it basically impossible to "fix" the lottery now? There are several legitimate reasons someone could "jump" the line.

Each time there is one of these scandals, people will lose confidence in the lottery system. Which is a shame because it is far better than what we had before -- unless, of course, you were connected in some way.
