^BYD already has an FSD like system. It's too late. But people there like the Tesla and are buying it. Tesla can compete. |
Level 2 is MORE dangerous than nothing. Basically drivers attention drifts and they lose situational awareness since they aren’t driving, then the car jump scares you and says “take the wheel now” |
Not just for elderly people, but for everyone who could be tired, confused in new situation with directions, have bad eye sight in some lighting conditions, or has distractions in the car wrangling kids, pets, etc. A minor distraction with FSD will keep you on the road, but without can result in an accident. During long drives if a person at the wheel nods off for a couple of seconds FSD will keep the car safe on the road while beeping to warn the driver. It makes a big difference. It's like extra layer of attention and an extra driver that can take over. |
Yep. In a regular car if the driver nods off there could very well be an accident. With FSD you are warned and there is an alarm to wake you up. You are not allowed to become situationally unaware because the car is monitoring your eyes all the time. I don't think the previous poster understands this. |
| No, EV market will fade away, in favor of hydrogen powered cars. All comes down to the infrastructure. Today’s gas stations will become tomorrow’s hydrogen stations. |
The highly flammable element that tends to explode? A company like Tesla isn't capable of taking consumer safety serious enough to get anyone to buy a hydrogen powered car. |
I don’t think you understand situational awareness. Your eyes can be looking but you aren’t seeing. I’m assuming you work in a office job, never worked in operations or a factory? |
Correct, hydrogen powered cars will come from Toyota, BMW, VW but not Tesla. Hydrogen will begin to have majority of auto market around 2050. Until then IC engines will continue to rule. |

China already has battery tech locked down, I guess Tesla will just be a robotics company?

Paywall so can't read this. |
I propose naming the first hydrogen car, The Hindenburg. What could possibly go wrong? |
Just absurd. If you thought it was difficult to permit EV charging stations wait til you try to permit H2 stations. And where is all this H2 coming from, and who is distributing it? The only way it could possibly be affordable is if electricity is cheap which a) seems unlikely and b) just suggests we should use EVs. The idea that we will go from a single model of hydrogen vehicle in 2025 to a a whole new fuel infrastructure and a majority of the market in 2050 is silly. |
Again, the idea that you can be worth trillions making robots, which are already a very mature market, is insane. |
And you think this never happens in an ICE car? If it happens in "operations or a factory" it can be dangerous as well. I don't know why you think it would be more dangerous in a car with FSD (Supervised). |
