7/24/23 Trial of Usman Shahid -- driver who killed two Oakton teens

I’m someone who literally heard the evidence and both sides there’s nothing here to deny that I’m saying. Most of you here are just coming up with bs like rich parents and going to Virginia tech partying. None of this is true and go do your own research and ask anyone you’d know that went to court. I’m not defending no one and as much as he’s at guilt it just disgusts me how the other driver who clearly knows he played a big role in that accident taking place got away with not a single charge. He literally said it himself, I DIDNT CHECK my right when making the turn, having to get immunity to speak and pleading the fifth speaks a lot.

Yes, we feel awful for the 2 girls that were killed and the 3rd girl who was seriously injured.

Am I the only one who sees the driver of the 4 runner as a victim too? I feel really bad for him too.

I do. I feel really bad for the driver of the 4Runner. He stopped for pedestrians. Yes, stopping in the traffic lane is technically a fault but this is something that happens regularly because pedestrians are unpredictable. In my experience, I’ve waited to let pedestrians go. The peds stop and wave for me to go. And we both sit there and then both start going at the same time. Just today, I stopped in a traffic lane because geese crossed my lane. Multiple cars stopped to let the geese pass. Someone could have barreled into me at 81mph and we’d be SOL.

I understand the victims family filing a civil suit. They are in tremendous pain and need to do something. But the 4Runner driver could have been any of us.

Anyone who is not paying attention.

FAIRFAX COUNTY IS THE ONE WHO HIRED THE GUY WHO DID THE ANALYSIS AND HE SAID STOMPING THE GAS IS A PERFECTLY NORMAL REACTION AND DOING SO TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT IS USUALLY THE SMARTER/BETTER DECISION. That was literally part of the closing statement at the court yesterday.

There’s so many people here that are just keyboard warriors not listening to any evidence presented at the courtroom, where were you when the trial was happening to make assumptions and pray the worst on shahid and his family? Where were you when the evidence was presented? I really suggest to come tomorrow to the sentencing and see how brainwashed you are? Shahid goes to vtech💀 spoiled brat💀 going 81 mph down the whole road💀 HE hit the other driver💀 it’s all bs that you hear and keep spreading. As someone who attended some of the sessions and heard all the evidence I can 100% confirm that he goes to nova. His parents are poor and he was the one making the payments on that 4 cylinder car that’s just as fast as almost any car on the road nowadays, it was just a luxury car. He only passed 1 light before the crash on Blake lane and him hitting the gas before impact was to avoid the accident which is what the detective fairfax hired said and confirmed is just a reaction and usually speeding up to avoid an accident is the smarter choice. How can you hit the other driver while the damage on your car is on the side of the car and other car is to the front bumper, sounds like a t bone to me and how the 4Runner should’ve yielded. To be honest it’s just sad how the 2 girls died and also sad how shahid’s life is basically ruined at such young age while the other party of the accident gets to walk around freely with nothing to worry about even after admitting fault but only after he got immunity from the courthouse. Personally I believe it’s a 50/50 and both drivers should be punished equally. If it was never for the car not yielding, shahid would’ve never been hit and just kept going in a straight line. If he wasn’t speeding then he could’ve slammed the brakes. Both scenarios still caused the death of 2 innocent girls though unfortunately and only 1 person is dealing with the all the consequences.

You're 100% right!!!!!!!!!
I will try to be there tomorrow and you're 100%. I don't know anyone- never attend that high school or anything, I went there because it was all over the news and I called in sick, just to see what was going to happen. Mr. Shahid and Mrs. Shahid seem like great parents who discipline their kids when needed. They are going tough a lot right now, it will be nice if everyone just stop talking if they don't know happened..

No. If the defendant wasn’t driving 81 mph on a residential street, those girls would be alive. An insanely reckless 81.

He was smart and got that immunity though. He has conscience and brains, while Shahid has neither.

His testimony can be used in the civil case.

His lawyer literally mentioned it today about how he goes to nova….. him and his family can’t afford anything and I don’t understand why y’all just can’t grasp that. His dad is literally a bus driver. It’s a poor family period.

Yeah right. Poor family bought their kid a BMW on pay of $20/hr?
He may be going to NOVA because Tech or wherever he was planning on going said no thank you.

Honestly I feel better about Tech after learning this.

Yes, but they’ll be lovely statements for the prosecution to read before sentencing. All these keyboard warriors trying to proclaim innocence for the murderer are doing a great job in helping the jury come up with a long sentence.

Good job!

He had a job senior year of highschool where he saved up for the down payment and was working full time to pay the monthly on the car which was going to be roughly 500$ a month I’m guessing on such entry level bmw that they bought second hand.

Why would we listen to the jumble of lies you’re spewing?

Adding energy to a collision increases risk. If you are an experienced driver (which Shahid was not) and know that accelerating will avoid a collision, then accelerate - but you may run into something else instead.

Braking is safer and reduces energy in a collision.

Liar. That was never said. Stomping the gas to plow into a car is never the smarter/better decision.

PP. To clarify, I don't actually know if that's the case. No idea whether he was slated to go to Tech. But some on here keep saying that he's not at Tech but is at NOVA. If he was slated to go to Tech and no longer is, I'm just speculating that it might be because Tech said no. It could also be because of other reasons (legal fees, not being able to concentrate on studying until the trial was over...).

If he were clocked at 30 and sped up to 40 you might have an argument, but he was clocked at 60 and sped up to 81 on impact.

Why was he going so fast to begin with? The speed limit was 35 and driving 101 tells you to slow down a bit when going through intersections, especially large ones with multiple turning lanes.

Bro he was never accepted at tech or hasn’t even applied I went to high school with him so idk who keeps coming up with all that bs😭
