7/24/23 Trial of Usman Shahid -- driver who killed two Oakton teens

Anonymous
Many many years ago when enforced laws my town had an illegal Mexican grab and rape a seven year old girl.

They caught him red handed in the act put him down for in holding told the other criminals what he did and said sorry cameras not working and we are going in a 15 minute break. They returned guy was beaten beyond recognition and turns out paralyzed brim neck down for life.

DA called up parents and said we can do trial and drag this out and kid may have to testify with tons of media coverage. However if you don’t press charges I will call INS fly him to Mexico push his wheel chair on runway and tell the Mexicans what he did and that is that.

They went that option. I recall newspaper said Justice was served appropriately and quickly.

Today we put him jail six months, the. He go on welfare with food stamps and get free housing

Let’s not be fooled that the design of the intersection caused this tragedy. Usman Shahid is solely responsible for the deaths of two girls, the injuries of a third, and the trauma inflicted on the witnesses and families.

In Shahid’s case, no. But that intersection has been an issue for years. And looks like this terrible accident led to some marginal improvements.

The only design problem with intersections around here is their existence. "Oh, it turned yellow, I wonder if I could beat the light?" "It hasn't been red that long."

I have worked on some NoVa FSS initiatives. Some intersections are very wide, have terrain and visibility ossuez, don’t have dividers or market crossings or curb cuts. Narrower streets act as automatic brakes.

Has the judge made a decision about how much time Usman Shahid will serve? My understanding is it can’t be more than the jury’s suggestion of four years.

His sentence won’t be finalized until later this year.
