Neighbor issue - dogs pooping on our lawn

Anonymous
I could use some advice. We live in a new subdivision and the house built next door to us doesn’t have grass, yet, so they let their two dogs use our yard as their toilet. Multiple times I have found dried pool in our yard and have cleaned it up so our four year old doesn’t step in it. Twice this week I have been doing dishes and watched them let the dogs poop in our yard and not clean it up - both times I went over and rang the doorbell to let them know they needed to clean it up (once was the dad, once was the college kid).

I don’t want to start a war with my neighbor but I am pissed of and would like advice for how to proceed.

Is this the back yard or front yard? If it is the back yard, build a fence!

Front yard - we do have the back fenced in already!

Fling it their way.

Poop in a bag and then set it on fire at their front door then ring the doorbell and jump over your fence.

Get a fence.

This isn’t hard. Just tell them to stop.

And if they don’t tell them you will file a police report for trespass.

If you see it happen, I’d keep going outside and talking to them. If you don’t see it happen, I’d fling it in their yard.

Has the dad done it since you stopped by? Has the son?

film them doing this. Tell them if it doesn't stop, you'll contact authorities. Then do it...use the video as proof.

People who do this are hard to shame. We had a similar issue for a time and it got so bad that someone on the block put up signs w/bags for dog poop. I knew exactly who was at fault and I suspect that others did as well, but the family was a little intimidating so no one wanted to confront them directly. It only went away when the dog did, unfortunately.

I would throw it in front of their door.

pour bacon grease on it.

I would not do anything that could be perceived as "violent" by them - such as poop flinging. That's just going to come back and bite you.

I would RUN out of my house if I saw the dog on the lawn and say "I hope you'll clean that up this time, my yard is not your toilet."

If you don't see them doing it but you know they are I would confront in person with words, not poop.
