I hadn't realized that Peter Thiel candidate won in Arizona? Peter Thiel is backing a lot of horses in these Senate races...

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/03/opinion/blake-masters-arizona-senate.html
In 2016, Mr. Thiel and Mr. Masters were charged with recommending appointees to populate the administrative state — a dream job for reformed libertarians convinced that their brilliant colleagues should be running the government. But their list of 150 names, Max Chafkin reported in his biography of Mr. Thiel, included people who were “too extreme even for the most extreme members of Trump’s inner circle.” The person they proposed for the F.D.A., for instance, was a tech mogul and bitcoin investor who had suggested replacing the agency with a “Yelp for drugs.”

“It was too much,” Steve Bannon told Mr. Chafkin. “People thought Trump was a disrupter. They had no earthly idea.”

Thiel is promoting 2020 election deniers? Ugh... That guy is poison to US politics.

Isn’t it crazy how 1 person with a net worth of 5B can have so much influence only due to money. Imagine if one of the 100B+ group went all in financially on politics….this is going to happen someday.

The Murdochs have been doing this for decades.

And Thiel is a German immigrant who just petitioned for New Zealand citizenship in 2017. What a jerk. He’s just throwing his money around to buy what he needs from different citizenships.

Those types of polls were all over prior to last Tuesday’s election and it was a huge Trump victory re: candidates.

I wish I could believe stuff like this. I don’t

You know what a primary is though, right? You know that the GOP is completely crazy at this point and obviously they elect the worst possible, most corrupt candidate? That’s not to say that they won’t win, but the results of an extremist party primary doesn’t mean that the general will go their way.

Trumpy candidates are generally poor quality candidates. They get a boost during a red wave year - worse candidates have a better shot - but, outside of solid red districts, they generally have worse chances of getting elected.

And you know that the DCCC financially supported a lot of Rs in the primary b/c they wanted the Trumpian candidates to win.

I am the PP, and I know. I don't feel great about that decision - but if it works out, then I guess I will applaud their McConnell level chess moves. If not then - well. Then we're in deep trouble.

How do the primary results undermine these polls?

And? Republican primary voters still voted for them. Let’s not pretend that the GOP doesn’t do this every single election, only in their case, they torpedo the progressives. Here’s an article about AIPAC doing it, but let’s be honest that the GOP probably does this pretty widely. Thanks to the soulless scumbucket Roberts, the tap for dark money flows and flows. https://www.salon.com/2022/08/08/alarming-quietly-funneled-millions-into-democratic-primaries-to-wipe-out-progressives/
