Spending almost 2 hours a day on the road nearly every day at such a young age seems like a lot. I hope kids and parents don’t burn out before BP can get your child into college. Good luck!

What VDA team trains at Howison 4 times per week?

Holy moly- I'm new to this forum and am so shocked and disappointed at what I've read.

Are we really commenting on how good or bad 10/11 year olds are? Are we really throwing false accusations about coaches and favoritism? Are we really making fun of kids and their captain's bands? Are we really putting out digs on parent volunteers?

I highly doubt you'd say this to people's faces. Be better. Support young athletes. The old saying- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

To set the record straight as a 2014 MYS parent who doesn't feel the need to hide behind an anonymous post:
1. My kid has started every game U9-U13 yet never participated in the coach's side hustle. It's a total myth that the coach is running a pay for play model.
2. The TM has worked tirelessly to support the coach and the girls.
3. All the girls are valued and it's an amazing environment for them.

Feel free to hang me out to dry on this because I won't bother to come back on and read the responses. Also, keep in mind, you may be hiding behind the anonymous nature of this message board, but everything is traceable with the right tools.

Odd comment, “ 1. My kid has started every game U9-U13 yet never participated in the coach's side hustle. It's a total myth that the coach is running a pay for play model.” Especially since the coach discussed only has had the U11 and U12s.

You are a pot stirrer. MYS 2014 Pre-GA already plays U13 this year...which is good for their development.

Debatable whether this is good for individual development. 11v11 means more space on the field so less play in close quarters and fewer touches on the ball for each player. May help the team win short term the next year but that’s shortsighted. Europe doesn’t even go to 11v11 until even later, more focus on short-sided games and creative playmaking.

I am the PP and I also agree with you. I think too many top U12 teams are playing 11v11 and they likely should stay at 9v9 to help develop all the kids a little bit more. My kid went from playing 9v9 to 11v11 and sees the ball about 20% less per game. There can be whole 10 min stretches where the ball just does not come to her corner of the field.

Anyway, I feel as though MYS does it because so many other top teams do this to play against older/ faster players. It is hard to say which is more beneficial for the 2014s right now. I'll reserve judgement for the spring season to see if there has been much relative improvement!

The only reason U12 teams play up is to increase roster size, drive revenue, try to lock in a team for future years, and appease parent egos. 11v11 is not in the best interest of the player development and I would be hard pressed for anyone to prove that wrong. The issue IMHO is GA doesn’t have a pre GA platform so the competition drops as there is no organization across clubs. While this may change, I don’t believe there is much line of sight towards more organization for next year u12. Pre ECNL is more established and while getting watered down, at least you have Richmond Orange and Red, VSA, Arlington (first team plays <these teams), Valor, PWSI and Beach to keep the competition at a solid level. This is a much better option than essentially playing up and against 2nd and mostly 3rd teams in EDP.

Unless you’re playing edp national league which is top teams for clubs that aren’t in GA or ECNL. I don’t think there’s a better option because every game is competitive. I won’t pretend it has drawbacks compared to 9v9, but from a competitiveness perspective, there’s no better option. That’s why Syc and mys did it this year and in previous years. Rest of edp is not worth it
