Holy moly- I'm new to this forum and am so shocked and disappointed at what I've read. Are we really commenting on how good or bad 10/11 year olds are? Are we really throwing false accusations about coaches and favoritism? Are we really making fun of kids and their captain's bands? Are we really putting out digs on parent volunteers? I highly doubt you'd say this to people's faces. Be better. Support young athletes. The old saying- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. To set the record straight as a 2014 MYS parent who doesn't feel the need to hide behind an anonymous post: 1. My kid has started every game U9-U13 yet never participated in the coach's side hustle. It's a total myth that the coach is running a pay for play model. 2. The TM has worked tirelessly to support the coach and the girls. 3. All the girls are valued and it's an amazing environment for them. Feel free to hang me out to dry on this because I won't bother to come back on and read the responses. Also, keep in mind, you may be hiding behind the anonymous nature of this message board, but everything is traceable with the right tools.
Odd comment, “ 1. My kid has started every game U9-U13 yet never participated in the coach's side hustle. It's a total myth that the coach is running a pay for play model.” Especially since the coach discussed only has had the U11 and U12s.
You are a pot stirrer. MYS 2014 Pre-GA already plays U13 this year...which is good for their development.
Debatable whether this is good for individual development. 11v11 means more space on the field so less play in close quarters and fewer touches on the ball for each player. May help the team win short term the next year but that’s shortsighted. Europe doesn’t even go to 11v11 until even later, more focus on short-sided games and creative playmaking.
