Any game summary or analysis? How did Madison double up and win the second half 8-4?
Anonymous
Madison jumped out first with Robinson controlling most of the first and second quarter mainly due to Madison inexplicably losing face-offs and committing unforced errors. Madison seemed to regain composure at the end of the half to tie it up 4-4. Key penalty at the end of the half gave Madison the first opportunity and the lead after halftime (5-4). Robinson played hard but looked a little tired as the game progressed. They were able to get it to 7-7 with what I thought was some poor goalie play by Madison. Madison #3 goes off for a couple of goals 9-7. Then Robinson just played horrible transition defense for the rest of the game and Madison has proved this year that that is when they take your heart scoring 3 goals in the fourth to Robinsons 1 - Final score 12-8. Robinson looked a little slow at the end and maybe lost focus a little as it started to get away from them at the end. But in the end, I think the better team won.

Thank you, looking forward to watching the footage once its posted. Sounds like it was a good game to catch live. Congrats to winner Madison but also to Robinson - took some time to re-read prior posts and wow what a year for Robo. This is what makes playoffs so exciting - any given day!

Congrats to the Warhawks and also to the Rams on great runs.
Fantastic players and definitely demonstrates the importance of strong coaching down the stretch. A great coach knows how to plan and use his personnel strategically and hats off to Coaches Solomon and Curran for proving their skills and coaching their talented players accordingly. So fun to watch and that game was the true ‘ship game.

Those two teams got after it hard last night and the refs let them play. It was as physical a high school game you could watch without crossing the line to cheap play and I think the refs respected that. Both teams went toe to toe and the Rams wore down in the fourth. Coach Solomon and Coach Curran (and their head coach quality assistants) had the boys ready and the game plans were spot on for their personnel. It was a fun game to watch and good luck to the Warhawks on Saturday if thats when it happens. Hearing VHSL may cancel tonights girls and boys games due to air quality.

Several weeks ago, Robinson’s freshman fogo suffered a season-ending injury. Last night, Robo used their Haverford middie against Madison’s #31 on faceoffs; It ended up being pretty equal. Robinson won the faceoff battle in the 1st half, and Madison won the 2nd half. It seemed like Madison went 60% on faceoffs and Robinson went 40%.

Two amazing athletes, competitors, lax players, former teammates and even finer young men! Lots of upside for those two.

One of the best games I’ve ever watched. Both teams played their hearts out, and the refs did a great job letting them play like college boys. It was 7-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter then became 10-8 in the last couple of minutes. The final score was 12-8 after Robo’s goalie left the net to double the ball. In the end, Robinson needed to have one of their best defenders in the game, but he was suspended for his actions in the Yorktown game. Madison’s #11 is legit, he carried the Madison defense. He's very small but has an incredible IQ and causes many turnovers. Madison will go on to win the 6A VA state championship.

Robinson would have won the state title this year if not for their continued stack of injury’s and #4 being ejected. Even without their FOGO, Robinson managed to beat Braddock twice and a very good Yorktown. Madison got lucky Robinson was down two key players. The poles on the wings of the face off played their hearts out with #5 playing strong and honestly embarrassed this “game winning FOGO”. This team lost 9/10 starters this year and with a team full of skilled juniors I have no doubt they will wipe the floor with madison next year.
