The royal family understand that people want to be able to do something tangible and it’s not writing a check. It ultimately helps engender support for the institution of the monarchy. Do you honestly think Charles and Camilla really wanted to do a walkabout and hug all those people yesterday?

Lol Tangible? Sure. Looks good on TV. Guess their charity hobbies are just that hobbies.

You are, indeed, guessing. The British people would laugh at your ignorance in disparaging the charity work of the royal family as a hobby rather than the exceptional good they do throughout the world. Since you are a silly American, you probably have heard of the British actors, Idris Elba and David Oyelowo. They received grants from the Prince Charles Trust to begin their acting careers and are among the thousands of young people throughout the Commonwealth who have been helped by the Trust That is why Idris Elba was invited to Harry and Meghan's wedding and was not a manufactured new black best friend, like Oprah.

The Prince's Trust is one of the charities Charles will likely have to pass on to another royal. Harry would have been a natural successor had he not run off with another person who is not afraid to display her ignorance and mean streak.

Look who's talking about a mean streak.

The Cambridges and Sussexs came in the same car. OMG.

Wow, that was awesome! Thanks for posting that. Things do change.

What’s most noteworthy to me in this video is the coolness between William and Kate. There does not appear to be any love between them.

There is love. It’s just tradition with his position.

Tradition is showing up with your spouse. William went to the Queen’s death bed alone, watched the proclamation of Charles as King alone and attended the accession council alone. Now they show up looking more like distanct cousins, and not the married kind, than attentive partners.

It is what it is.

There is no such tradition, however people with high EQ don’t show up at the death bed of a great grandmother in law. They allow a handful of the closest family to be there.

Sophie was there though.

Question how much time do you think Kate and the kids spent with the queen? Actually with the queen and interacting with her? She did not do it with Charles.
kate has known queen for more than two decades.

Since she was a teen fresher at St Andrew’s.

She had a crush on William since she was 9 and a young William turned her head when his team played a hockey match at her school.

Oh wow. I watched it specifically because I thought I'd disagree with your comment, but affection doesn't seem to be the order of the day! Especially contrasted with Harry and Meghan. But in fairness, it probably is a stressful time. They have a lot going on!

His beloved grandmother died, and William is second in line to throne and you are worried that he is not snogging his wife? Harry and Meghan are acting as the declasse Americans she always was and he has become.
he’s mow first I’m line.

What does that have to do with her knowing the queen? Some terribly illogical posting on this thread.

Too bad you don’t understand traditions in royalty and how they act in public. It’s nothing new.

Remember, the women who post on these threads are not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer and didn't learn anything from their trashy mother or their third rate state schools that would give them enough information to comment semi-intelligently. They rightly belong in the entertainment thread because they are.

Megan behaved fine and I usually can’t stand her. I really think Kate is uncomfortable with her being there. I was happy to see the brothers together. I hope this forced interaction helps defrost their relationship.

I can't believe that people are spending their valuable time talking about a costume play and drama that is of no significance to the modern world. 21st century.

I’m no Meghan fan and agree that she is déclassé, but her behavior on this outing appeared to be flawless. She looked appropriately somber and was supportive of her husband who just lost his grandmother. Even though she was 96 and this isn’t unexpected, I imagine the walkabout of flowers and trinkets and crowds bring back memories of when Diana died. For that reason alone, this couldn’t have been easy or pleasant for either William or Harry.

She’s an actress. Not a good one, but nonetheless.

World is a stage.

She was also not at the Diana statue unveiling. Maybe pass that because it’s public but why wouldn’t you be with your husband with his grandmother dying? Sophie and Camilla were there.

Because the Queen was already dead and they had just dropped the children off for the first day of school. She needed to be there to pick them up and be with them for all of the stuff that is about to follow. With the exception of William and Harry - who were/were now about to be the children of a King — no other grandchildren or great-grandchildren were there. It’s not nefarious - this is part of a very-long planned out national event which it sounds like moved very quickly and didn’t have as much notice as people had presumed would happen.

Sophie and Edward also have minor children. If they were already dropped off that makes even less sense as seems super easy to have Nanny Maria pick them up. It’s not like his grandmother dies every day seems kind of unhealthy to decline to be supportive for even one day for a school run. Either she didn’t care to go or he didn’t want her there.

Prince Edward is her actual child. William is her grandchild. His kids are her great grandchildren. So big difference.

I heard on the news that her children had gathered near at the end. Not the entire family.

It does not seem odd for a granddaughter-in-law to not show up at the bedside. What is a little odd is for the second son of the future king to not be able to travel to Scotland on the same military jet his brother took. Does it have to do with Harry not being able to use public resources? They couldn't stop being paranoid about whether he would share details about the experience or what people would say in his memoir? Harry should have been treated as an equal to William by his father in this particular private situation.

Harry is not William’s equal. He is the spare; not the heir. At least Archie will get the Prince title Meghan was jonesing for

She can re-do his room in Little Prince decor.

It's not automatic. Archie was born before Charles was King. For Archie to become a prince as a grandchild of the regent. King Charles would have to issue letters patent, which he is unlikely to do.

If Meghan has a third kid, woukd it automatically become a Prince or Princess?

Thank you

Yes

Now that they’re grandchildren of the King, Archie and Lillibet are automatically granted the prince/princess title. Please google it. Their parents may choose for them to use these titles or not. I suspect this will be a quandary for them. They crave the attention the titles bring but will appear grossly hypocritical if they start using the titles for their kids.

Again they were born BEFORE Charles became king so it's not automatic

I watched a video of Will, Catherine, Harry and Meghan greeting people in the crowd. Will had his hand on Catherine's back.
