The final bit of news trickled in last month when the Md side clubs; Bethesda, PPA, SAC and even DCSC matched NOVA by not forcing players up up and in summary are trying to limit playing up. The rules and policies around here are set for next year. You fought hard, in an irrelevant forum, for your DD but in the end she will have to fight her own battles. It will be ok. |
This makes no sense. Once rosters are posted showing top teams with players all a single graduating year reality will be in full affect. |
It's sad that you can't understand what's being presented. |

Had club webinar last night ECNL boys and girls club. Lots of questions asked from parents one was specifically August kids who are 9th graders but would’ve placed on a team of mostly 8th graders next year.
They said players will play within the age bands never heard that term until then??? but kids will tryout for their new age group Aug-July and after tryouts the club will talk with families. No players will be forced to play on age group above regardless of grade. If a player would like to play and up the club believes they are at the level they will be allowed. |
This is what clubs say now but aligning Aug birthdays with their grade in school team makes things much easier for them to manage. If you think clubs wont choose the path that is in their best interests you are a fool. |
If only grade in school existed in travel club soccer But calendar DOB age brackets exists, and is what's used by the leagues So how about expect your kid to play in their age group as what's happening today |
Grade in school or "Graduating Year" 100% exists in College and College recruiting. Since playing in college in the end goal of Youth Competitive soccer grade exists. |
How does it make it easier for them (the club) to manage? Have you ever used one of the CRMs they use for club management (I know the answer, you've only been in involved in soccer for a few years with your daughter)? Nothing, I repeat, nothing in any of them is set up to revolve around grade. It is meaningless. Everything is set up to revolve around age brackets in these systems! Trying to organize by grade actually makes a club's life harder. So again, how would aligning someone with a specific grade make it easier for clubs to manage them? Please explain. |
Your assumptions are humorous. I've already said that I was around pre 2017 which is why I know whats going to happen with SY and Aug birthdays. I've also already listed multiple times why its easier for clubs when all players on a team are the same graduating year aka grade in school. |
Yes, we know you personally existed before 2017, but you have only been involved with soccer on the girls side for a few years. As a parent. Which is fine Delusional August Guy. Humor me on this: "I've also already listed multiple times why its easier for clubs when all players on a team are the same graduating year aka grade in school." How is it 'easier' for the club? |
Clubs want all levels of player playing on the correct grade in school A B C etc team. This is because its better for players when they get to recruiting years. Its better for the club because they avoid 8th grade teams with 9th grade players who do high school soccer for 4 months out of the year. And in general its easier for clubs to manage everyone when players are grouped by grade. (Think homecoming, or a school trip that only one grade participates in, etc) |
You keep saying it is easier but don't explain it. Why is it easier? Right now, the club's system are all set up to manage teams by age brackets. Grouping by grade may make it easier for a college coach but it is not easier for youth clubs. They are not set up to run that way and never have been. How would it be easier to suddenly switch that to 'grade'? "Clubs want all levels of player playing on the correct grade in school A B C etc team" They do? I have never seen a club that wants this. |
They did explain it. When 9th graders on an 8th grade team disappear for a season because of highschool. |
They don't worry about that now though. |
Still all wish casting. Imagine the look on a coach's face when asking about school field trips and club soccer. |
