Honestly I'm starting to believe she's under the conservatorship because she has the intelligence level (and decision-making abilities) of a 8-year-old.

Quite frankly she's being targeted by these grifters who see children with her as a free ticket to $20K a month for 18 years.

It's not a crime to be an idiot though so...have at it.

+1. In addition to KFed's $20K/month, Sam Lutfi got a settlement. Men getting involved with Britney seem to come out ahead financially.

And, what’s your point? Again, it’s totally her choice if that’s where she wants her money to go. I don’t see any outrage or calls for conservatorship for the numerous male celebrities having multiple children with different baby mamas and paying them child support for the rest of their lives (Donald Trump, Nick Cannon, any rocker or rapper). Do you even hear your misogyny?

+1. It’s abundantly clear that sexism and misogyny have played a big role in what’s happened to Britney and why people think it’s acceptable. The woman hasn’t been allowed to have her own phone for over a decade! The people in charge of Britney want to control her so they can profit off of her. That’s what this is about.

What’s clear is most of you have never had to deal with anyone who suffers with severe mental illness. Queue the “I have and it wasn’t that bad/difficult and they are fine” posters.

The vast majority of Americans coping with mental illness are permitted to be in charge of their own lives. They are allowed to hire their own attorneys and to own and use phones. If you have special evidence indicating that Britney should not be included among those Americans despite maintaining an enormously successful and lucrative career, please do share.

Yes, but maybe they shouldn't be.

We closed the mental institutions and replaced them with Nothing. That doesn't mean it's the best way.

You seem really anxious to strip millions of people of their rights. America might not be the best country for you. We are kind of big on rights here.

Also I assume you have never had any mental health difficulties or taken any drugs for your mental health. If you have, maybe we should question whether you should be stripped of your rights.

You seem to be completely blind of the millions of homeless people walking around with clear mental illness. America is perfect for you Bc you can pretend everything is ok and that people are fine when they live on the streets in their own filth and talk to the sky. You’ll be much happier when that is Britney Spears Bc at least she will be “free.”

Britney is not homeless and she will never be homeless. She has ample funds for a home as well as mental health care.

I bet I could find some seriously questionable choices you’ve made if I knew your life. However I will defend your right to make them.

Yet. She’s not homeless yet. She has her mental health taken care of Bc it’s been out in place by someone who doesn’t want to see her end up penniless and on the streets.

The thing is, you are nobody. I don’t need you to defend anything regarding my life and my choices. Mostly Bc you defending them mean absolutely nothing. If I were broke and homeless you would walk right past me on the street.

I'm not arguing the conservatorship should continue. You must have missed the "have at it." Let the feeding frenzy of grifters begin!

The feeding frenzy of grifters began long ago, with the biggest grifter of them all... her father.

+1. Yep, exactly.

I'm not seeing that re her father. He's getting paid $10K a month to handle the financial affairs of a multi-million dollar empire. That's peanuts in comparison to what an actual financial advisor or CFO would be making. He's not off buying mansions for himself in her name. Doesn't have a yacht or a fleet of cars.

He seems to have been protecting her interests as best as he's able to. I mean if someone has seen proof that he siphoned off $50 million in a Cayman bank account, sure share. But exactly how has he grifted her?

If left to her own devices she'd be penniless with 10 children ala Tori Spelling without a mom to hold back the fortune.

Do you think Tori should be stripped of her rights too?

The New Yorker piece proves Britney’s father took away her access to a phone and cut off her contact with anyone he considered sympathetic to her, including her housekeeper and assistant - all while taking a percentage of her earnings. All evidence suggests he made more from her per year than her yearly allowance. Also, in the midst of her initial crisis where he gained conservatorship, he told her she was fat and he was going to get her a trainer so she could get back on TV. It’s obvious he is a predator.

Rights? Absolutely not. But eventually her brood of kids would be taken from her if she couldn't sufficiently care for, feed, and house them. Her mother cut her off for a reason.

There’s only one way this is heading. I hope houseinhabit and others will rescue her when she really needs help. But I doubt it. Much more comfortable on that couch and finger pointing.

How do you know where this is headed? Do you have access to confidential information? If you’re just talking about her making poor choices and losing her money, it’s her right to do those things. She has made more money than you would ever make in ten lifetimes, and, if she wants to spend it all wastefully, it’s her right to do so.

Well MC, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera have all claimed to start a fund to help her with legal bills. So how is Britney’s money if others are offering theirs.

Because Britney can’t currently access her own money, genius. That’s the point.

I hope all of you people talking about how this is what Britney needs have been out there talking about how you think all the men who have been out of control deserved to have all their rights and autonomy stripped.

Justin Beiber was pretty messed up for awhile why isn't he under lock and key?
Johnny Depp has been drinking and spending his way into oblivion for a decade.
Shia LaBeoef has seemed on the edge of some kind of violent nervous breakdown for his entire adult life.

But we don't call them 'crazy' or strip them of their rights because they are men. So screw you guys and your serious internalized misogyny.

+1. We all know this would never happen to an extremely rich and successful man - no matter how outlandish his behavior.

Not a single one of these men endangered their kids (Johnny) or were foolish enough to have them when they were in a mentally ill space (Shia/Justin).

Britney's problem, among others, was that she locked herself in a bathroom with her toddlers and forced the police to break it down. After having questionable judgement regarding the kids in the first place. She was caught driving around with them in her lap with no seatbelt multiple times (a judge ruled she couldn't have them in her car anymore) and she dropped another one while looking high on meth.

Had she just had a mental breakdown with herself alone - I do not think the judge would have given Kevin Federline full custody of their shared kids and her own father full custody over herself.

you are probably right that we didn't ask that someone get a handle of them. Maybe we should have? But, yes, they are indeed called crazy and made fun of for these things.

And I do think another poster is right that people were concerned about the very young kids being in danger.

Where the hell have you been?! They’ve all been called crazy (even on this site). Two have been called abusers.
