There is no debate with you. I explained WHY it’s different, and you reject that it is. Things are different depending on who says them, and how they say it. Context and tone matter. It’s why people weren’t outraged by the word itself, or outraged when Cummings used it, but were offended when Trump tweeted. I offered you an apt analogy to explain, but you insist it’s more like someone who is Irish telling an “Irish joke.” Run outside yell some of Trumps’s tweets to random POC in the street. See what their reactions are and see what happens. Or at any meeting in your office. Or at your kids’ school. Then tell me you are right. You can’t, because we are humans and context matters. Some people can say things, or say them in certain ways, and others simply cannot. Sorry you can’t use certain words the way others can. Life isn’t fair. That why. And some people not being able to say certain things or use certain words is a whole lot less difficult to manage than having to live as a POC in this country. Also, as a general rule, you shouldn’t say every damn thing that pops into your head, and you shouldn’t punch down. Lessons from Kindergarten. |
This is what I’ve been saying from the beginning. No human would want to live there, willingly, among rats. But I guess my interpretation skills aren’t up to Liberal par. And even if I’m right, and that’s what he meant, they’ll tell me I’m wrong. With absolutely no proof. |
People don't want to live with rats. They might want to live in Baltimore though, which is their home and where their family and friends live. If your family member lived in a decrepit house would you tell him that it was disgusting and no human being would want to live there? Is that how you would address the problem. Are Trump supporters all so tone deaf they don't understand context and delivery? Do you all have social interaction deficits? Besides, what makes Trump so interested in Baltimore in the first place? Hint - he's not. He wanted to slam Cummings. He couldn't care less that his son-in-law is a slumlord. Which is why none of you conservatives will address that because you know it's bad. |
Here’s the thing - I care less about the delivery and more about the message. Baltimore is infested with rats. Do you really really need that to be said kindly? Saying Baltimore is worse than a third world country is really that much better? Are your feelings that delicate? This is really your biggest issue? |
WHY AREN'T YOU DIRECTING YOUR IRE AT SLUMLORDS LIKE JARED KUSHNER THEN? Geez. You people are so disingenuous. And you have disgusting views and no one believes you care about Baltimore at all you hypocrite. Oh sorry, did I hurt your feelings? |
Yes, I do. And if you can't do that, then find someone else who can. It's called being empathetic. 93% of communication is non-verbal. Got a problem with it? |
| Exactly what solutions do you people want? |
Slumlords need to step up. Minimum wages need to be raised. More money into community projects - you can fine the slumlords and use the money for programs. |

video - around 1:38 There's a discussion about schools that follows. |
Why aren't slumlord fines being enforced? Corrupted politicians? |
Sounds like corrupt slumlords if they're not paying fines and doing what needs to be done to keep up their properties. Why do people need the government to breath down their neck to do the right thing? |
Interesting debate tactic. Make something up (I am not directing my ire at slumlords, I must simply love them!), then take off with that, and post insults and call me a hypocrite. I gotta try that sometime. When they go low you go high, right? |
| A word about slumlords: they do not make the buildings bad. The people living in them make them bad. |
|
It's not just the slum lords.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/baltimore-public-housing-workers-demanded-sex-repairs-lawsuit-alleges-n492161 The entire system is corrupt from top to bottom. There are some good people, trying to do good things. And they're surrounded by people doing whatever they can to get whatever they can. |
