Looks like a new Gaza war has started

So sad. This is clearly a response from Hamas that they saw the Saudi/US/Israel deal making to be wrong for them.

I can’t imagine any good Palestinian person volunteering to go on cnn to defend the Hamas attack or engage in whataboutism to justify an act of terror. And cnn obviously won’t bring Hamas sympathizers on tv. And why should they?

This is indefensible.

I think you might want to distinguish the past human rights abuses, land grab, etc. from what Hamas just did. They kidnapped women and children. They slaughtered a German tourist. Separate the past from the present and get on the right side of history.

The past IS the present. The past is happening. It never stopped. Israel doesn't get to say "nothing we did up until this point matters."

Oh please. This was not an attack on the military. It was an attack on civilians. Don’t be obtuse.

It's hard to say who is a civilian and who is a service member in Israel, isn't it?

DP. I mean, maybe, insofar as Israel has a big reserve component, as it’s necessary to defend itself against enemies who seek its annihilation.

I mean it's not like Israel tried hard to endear itself to its neighbors, KWIM?

How exactly do they get out of their concentration camp? Drown or be buried in ruble - hard decision.

LOL sure he is, with all these hostages inside.

Hostages have proved to be valuable in the past

You know what, you're right. It's not like HAMAS and Israel have a history. It's not like they are related at all. It's like Hamas just woke up one day and decided to attack for no earthly reason. No context, no history, no death count, nothing. All you need is the breathiness in the CNN anchor voice.

The three-year whose rape you are salivating over, pedo, was a civilian.

Disagree.

Your line of thinking seemingly absolves Bin Laden and the 9/11 terrorists by placing shared responsibility (at best) on the US for prior action in the Middle East. And that’s obviously ridiculous, right?

Here’s what is going to happen: all the Free Palestine people in the US, Europe, and other civilized nations will realize the atrocities committed by Hamas against women and children simply can’t be justified. They’ll quietly retreat. The only people voicing support for Hamas and Palestine will be terrorists: Hezbollah, Taliban, and religious extremists who clearly aren’t defending human rights.

I recommend BBC world News, they are most balanced, tend to sensationalize less

Pretty sure nobody is really shocked that a terrorist group attacked Israel.

Hamas is a terrorist group. You know that, right?

Is that the team you are picking? For real?

You do you, but I think you’ll quickly see a shifting of allegiance soon.

Is it known how/ why they were able to cross and take so many hostages? Where was the defense?

I don’t know the answer, but the attacks didn’t seem isolated. They were widespread.

It was Shabbat and an important Jewish holiday. I don’t know if that had an impact.

This was a complete failure by Israeli intelligence and the IDF. Some it is Bibi's own doing. There is so much acrimony with Netanyahu and security forces that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. But in the end, people do need to their jobs. This was a failure of imagination. Of diligence. Of professionalism. The holiday, of course, was a big reason why those bases were undermanned. Most regular soldiers were on leave. So it was a skeleton staff of mostly reserve soldiers. Feel terrible for them. Presumably, a lot of IDF officers will be losing their careers over this.

I am sorry to be the one to tell you but the world doesn't feel nearly as much outrage about this as you think.

So if existence of Israel is based on religious texts and a denand for a zionist Natoon, and then when a 2 state solution is no longer believable,
Could a counter argument be made for the right of palestinians to their own state? Or do they not have that right?
