So...my question is...why is everyone so worried about the minority that are unvaccinated? The Packers are a perfect case study. Living and working in close quarters. Traveling together. Eating together. Lifting. Showers. Workouts. No masks either.

If you are vax'd, you are protected. Break through cases coming from un-vax'd?? Is that what everyone is worried about? Such little chance. I have far more important things to think about.

if you are vax'd...get living, people...

You are forgetting something key. They are living and working in a bubble and testing regularly. Big difference.

Given the outcome -- no outbreak -- we should have even more confidence in the vaccine. Less than 1 percent of fully vaccinated people in Maryland have tested positive for COVID. I'm sure the actual number of cases is higher than that. But how much higher? Once all school-aged kids can easily be vaccinated, it's time for the mandates to go. I'm less concerned about serious illness in that age group than I am about out of control transmission threatening school operations.

PP where did you get one percent? In
Virginia, 30 percent of positive Covid cases are breakthrough cases. It’s true they are not getting as sick.[twitter]

Assuming the number is correct (a big assumption) - you're still using the wrong denominator.

If 30% of positive SARS-CoV-2 tests are among vaccinated people, but 65% of people are fully vaccinated, that shows that the vaccines are effective.

And that's just for the population overall. For an accurate comparison of vaccine effectiveness (i.e., odds of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 for vaccinated vs. unvaccinated people), you really need to compare by age group.

Actually, they aren't living in a bubble any more. Not this year. And ok...they are testing regularly, and that showed that there was no outbreak. No rash of positives tests came up from those involved with the team. That just confirms the point.

I will not be wearing my mask inside from this point forward. I am triple vaccinated and I am done. It's time for civil disobedience. The vast majority of people who are ready to move on with their lives need to speak up and act up. Enough of this garbage.

I am completely over masks. I am also triple vaccinated. The second that mask mandate was rescinded I took my mask off. I am not a Republican, or trump supporter (I feel like I always have to make this disclaimer because of the loonies to equate no masks trumpster), but I am over this circus. But if I’m being totally honest with you, I will begrudgingly wear my mask because I don’t want to be confused with a Trump supporter.

Jim Crow laws, the Vietnam war, having to wear a mask to the grocery store...

No. Having the government make decisions on my health or that of my children that quite literally changes every week is not a precedent we should allow to be set. Much like the other unacceptable issues you raised. Much larger issue at stake. It’s unfortunate that the mask forever crowd does not understand that.
Regulate obesity. Ban all cigarettes. Force people to exercise.

You mean, like laws about drinking water, food safety, pharmaceuticals, motor vehicle safety, air quality, etc.? That precedent was set a long time ago.

Wearing seat belts nas not smoking and not drinking and not having sex with adults are also all health decisions made by government for your kids.

Or, we could just go back to my great grandparents day, when. No one had to do any of that and they could get married and have a kid when she was 13, and my grandma could start driving around town without a license or seat belt at age 14, with her 27 year old mom in the passenger seat. Sound alike fun, doesn't it!

Seriously, all you antimaskers had to do was voluntarily mask up in grocery stores, pharmacies and health care facilities and none of you would probably need to put masks on back on this week.

Just use a little bit of freaking common sense next time,.ok?

How many people in MoCo even stopped wearing their mask after the mandate was lifted? There hasn't been a mandate in Fairfax since the original one was lifted in May, and a vast majority of people still wear masks in stores. Our cases managed to dip below the CDC threshold for a while and then ticked back up about 2 weeks later. Masking behavior did not change during that time. I'd think the rise in cases would have more to do with waning vaccine immunity and colder weather driving activities indoors, than a handful of people going on a Target run without their mask on.

They are helpful but they are not stopping Covid. Vaccinated are getting Covid. It only takes one positive to start an outbreak.
