EA denial at Tulane. Worth moving to ED2 there in hopes of acceptance? Or better to move on to another school for ED2? DC loved Tulane.

There is a new admissions blog post by Owen Knight about being deferred from Tulane. If your kid truly wants to go, he/she should let admissions know after the New Year that it is his top choice. He could also switch to ED II. All of these deferrals are yield protection. Don't give up hope if your kid really wants to go there. Deferral basically means, we think this is not your top choice school, please let us know if it really is.

I thought Tulane asks deferred EA students if they want to switch to ED2? Not positive though. Might want to check on College Confidential to see if others have received that letter. If not, maybe switch to ED2. If so but you didn’t get one, I’d be taking a hard look at whether I’m really competitive.

Just looked at CC. I don’t think anyone has been asked yet about moving to ED2. Almost no was denied - largely deferrals but CC is a high stats place. If you’re serious about Tulane, ED2 is probably the only path there.

DD accepted EA at Tulane. Also received a merit scholarship and invited to the honors program. She's very happy!
