Do you mind saying what her GPA is, etc.? |
| Tulane tonight EA. Surprised and happy. Thought DC had a chance, but seemed to be tough this year so was prepared for a deferral at best. |
| My accepted DC had 3.97 uw, 4.7 w and 32 ACT. Average EC’s and a really creative essay. Got some merit and honors college. |
|
DC accepted at Lewis & Clark and Reed EA.
FYI, Reed did it old school via mail instead of portal. The package included a book (Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man), a journal and other stuff. Nicely reinforced the intellectual (and lefty) bent of the school. DC had just gotten accepted ED at a school that's probably a better fit but I wanted to mention Reed as well as L&C here since they are a little off the beaten track for DCUM but both great schools. |
Is the ED school also a SLAC? |
yes |
+1, another EA admit, with merit and honors. Thrilled and happy. |
Not a lot of kids out west apply to both of those schools. Reed is west coast Swarthmore. Lewis & Clark is more like west coast Richmond (minus the hoops). They're very different from each other. |
| Everybody and their mother got admitted into Tulane. Oy vey |
3.98 uw/4.83 w |
Not really. They only accepted 10% of EA applicants. |
Lewis and Clark is not as well regarded or known as U of Richmond. Same with Reed v Swarthmore (though I think Reed is probably underrated). |
You've totally missed the point. |
| Tulane is a black box for their admissions-seeing some really high stat kids getting in (and congrats!) so SMH at how the kid we know got in with a low GPA (think 3.3 max) and nothing particular EC wise. Guess some cash behind the scenes came into play. |
Rejected with 3.98 uw and 4.65 w GPA. Test optional. Wrote all essays. Showed lots of interest-- interview, in person info session, online info session, student panel. UGH!! What a colossal waste of time. Could have been using that time to write essays and study for classes. |
