I've been extremely craving for junk food for a second day in a row now. I've lost about 60 lbs recently, and I do have cravings for sweets or chips every now and then, and I'm usually ok as long as I get about 1 serving of it, and is still within my daily calorie count. I had been continuous craving for nuts, cookies and chocolate last week, but that was expected because this is what happens just before period, and again, I just control the portion. Yesterday was crazy, I've been doing fine all day but had peanut butter craving, so I had some, but at the end of the day I ate the whole big bag of Simply Doritos, and today by midday, I already had 3 costco cookies.
This may be a combination of winter weather and hormones( yesterday was the 1st day of period), but I don't want to go on a 3rd day like this. What can I do to stop these excessive cravings? I don't usually consume a lot of processed/ simple carbs, my daily carbs usually consists of fruits and whole grains. |

Journal your cravings. Take note of the time and situation when you have them. You may be dehydrated, tired, or lacking some vitamin (ie craving chocolate during menstruation can be a result of low magnesium levels, craving red meat can be a result of low iron levels)
Congrats on the weight loss! Don’t let a few days of cravings derail you, don’t sabotage your success. Have a little of the junk and move on through journaling |
| Can you build the junk food into a meal? Like have an apple, then a bowl of chips, then a hard boiled egg? Have it for lunch? That works for me sometimes. |
| The winter does this for me too. I crave sweets and comfort food. I really just try to stay busy. If I’m at home watching TV it’s worse, so at night I go for a run or take a class at the gym. |
| I get cravings before my period but every now and then, the first 2 days can be EXTREME in terms of wanting to eat crap. Eat huge meals of protein and fat tomorrow so that you feel extremely satiated and hopefully it will get you back on track. |

Try Sweet Defeat or L Glutimine.
Both have been helpful for my cravings for sweets |
| Eat peanuts. They are relatively harmless but pack a bit salt and fat punch. See if it helps. |
| Do you keep those Costco cookies in the house?! |
| Cravings are tapering off, but that's also because I finished 1 row of costco cookies, the good news is, it seems like I'm only craving 1 flavor, and that's gone. Seems like the extreme cold played a part on this, I bought grapefruit and have been eating peanut butter to help me feel full. |
Not all the time. I just bought it this time because I wanted some of it, I did not expect the extreme cravings. |

It has helped me to tell myself that that's just biology's way to pack the pounds back on me. The more cravings I have, the more what I'm doing weightloss wise is working, and that means my body knows it and is like "quick, get some cookies in here, I'm starving"
I feel like that mindset shift helps - of course, i'm not the one who lost 60 lbs (congrats!) |
| Hello Why everything is delicious it is all harmful to the body. I love sweets and buns but I am recovering from them. I like to control myself go in for sports, I run every morning. I also manage to control my diet, and eat only healthy foods, included in my diet food supplements that help me to be in good shape https://tonusjournal.com/ |

Are you calorie restricting? If so, you’re going to get intense cravings for highly palatable food.
Have you tried upping your healthy fat intake? That usually helps with satiety. |
