Lottery Swami is here, lurking in the background, and way better than hiring a consultant.

I swami for free.

Swami, oh Swami, is the new Mundo Verde going to be a hot mess?

Swami knows year 1 at MV north will be better than what is left behind. Beloved teachers will transfer to new campus, school won't communicate and founding families will be pissed off.

Shall we play for 1st and 3rd grade? We currently attend Powell, but feel like the only option is to move IB for O-A, but who has the time and money for that!

Swami reminds you there's no shame in playing, but reminds you that there's better chances in a 7-11 powerball ticket than an out of bounds O-A admission. Swami recommends entering both of yours in the MV new campus lotteries, if you are looking for Spanish. Your 1st will pull your 3rd into one of the campuses.

PK3 (no sibling preferences). We are going for Spanish immersion as DD is with Spanish-only speaking nanny and I speak to her in both Spanish and English (although still wouldn't list as Spanish dominant). Thoughts?

1. Mundo Verde P St
2. Mundo Verde Brookland
3. DC Bilingual
4. Stokes Brookland - Spanish
5. Cleveland - Spanish - English Dominant (OOB)
6. Shining Stars (would only accept Spanish track)
7. Bethune 16th St
8. Bethune Brookland
9. Stokes East End - Spanish
10. Langley (IB)

Need to get 2 & 3rd grade children out of poorly managed / low performing charter that goes through 8th. Are IB for Bruce Monroe /MacFarland.
Don’t care about immersion. Seems impossible to lottery into a Hardy/ Deal feeder. Help! Would prefer not to move.

SSMA Family.

There is a pilot program for Spanish immersion. Two of the seven primary classes are Spanish immersion using an alternating day format. The school says that it will grow into Lower El next year, but it's hard to trust anything that SSMA says at the moment. The program has had some hiccups, including one of the teachers leaving after only two months, but things seem to be a bit better now. The school has not officially confirmed that it'll continue next year.

North campus won’t have 3rd grade

Perhaps Swami mean the 1st grader in North would pull 3rd grader in the South campus.
