Putting your schools in that order guarantees you won't get into Latin--it always fills up faster than Basis. I'm no Swami but I foresee Basis in your future!

Would you look at my Kindergarten list? Currently Prek4 at Seaton and loving it, but worried about the higher grades and also about attrition of all his friends this year. Would be open to staying, though.

1. ITS
2. Eaton (we would move to be closer if we got in)
3. Mundo Verde - P Street (but honestly I have a lot of reservations about the school (teachers/rigor/playground) and I don't know if I would accept.

Thanks!

If you’re willing to move, why not just move now and get guaranteed access? Or do you prefer ITS and your current neighborhood?

This may be a little convoluted, but if we got into eaton, we would move to mount pleasant. Also love our current neighborhood.

To the ITS questioner, I like the rigor/individualization/school atmosphere/parent community/ middle school option. I also have friends who are very discerning about education (educators and school admins) who send their kids to ITS and love it.

Also, i suspect that I know the ITS questioner so perhaps we can have a longer convo about this at the playground

I'm sure you already know this, but the chances of getting into Eaton OOB are essentially nil. They've waitlisted upwards of 30 IB kids for PK4 in the past couple years.

Well, they are undergoing a renovation next year, and enrollment of IB kids typically drops for other schools when that happens. I know the reno location is close by, but perhaps the same will hold true, who knows?

Not Swami, but Hill dweller. Watkins does not have PK3. Brent and Peabody don't accept out of bounds for PK3. Don't know about Payne. Add some charters -- Maury IB is a numbers game.

I know you're talking about K rather than PK, but presumably there are at least a couple dozen in-boundary kids who didn't get into PK4 who will still live in the neighborhood when it's time to enroll in their guaranteed K spot...

Why not add Miner and SWS?

I would definitely add Miner. Getting into Maury IB is very difficult and you won’t get into Brent or Peabody (or L-T, or Van Ness) OOB. I’d also add Appletree Lincoln Park, Appletree OK Ave.

ITS questioner. I’m sure you don’t know me. I have a kid in middle at ITS and love the school, I was just curious as I’d rather move for a sure thing if that was already in your plans. Then you don’t have to worry about swami or luck

Good luck! It really is an amazing school. The new lower school principal has really found her stride and every single teacher is stellar.
