He would, but NY really needs him now. He is showing how well he can lead in a disaster.

What nonsense are you spewing? She’s very popular in Michigan (except with the Dutch Reformed whackos in the Western part of the state). They love her nasal mid-Michigan accent, cold weather cojones, and mitten jewelry. She’s get the job done and taking numbers.

I have a hard time getting past that midwestern accent. Plus she looks like a typical Republican stepford wife. I know that that’s incredibly superficial, but I just can’t handle anyone who looks and sounds like a Trump supporter anymore. PTSD (post Trump stress disorder)?

This ignorant line of thinking is why Trump got elected in the first place. Mazel! She’s a lawyer from the liberal part of the state, daughter of two liberal lawyers. Everyone from Michigan has that accent. And most of them are not thin. Michigan was a reliable democratic state for most of the last 40 years. But sure, lump them all together with Arkansas - at your peril.

Just the daughter of humble flyover state lawyers huh? lol

“Her father served as head of the state's Department of Commerce under Governor William Milliken and was the president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan between 1988 and 2006. Whitmer's mother worked as an assistant attorney general under Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelley.”

Your reading comprehension sucks. Nobody said “humble.” They said liberal, because somebody ignorant called her fat and said she looked and sounded like a Trump supporter.

It's really, really obvious. But how can Biden walk back on his dumb promise?

1. He can't walk back on his promise of a woman that would be catastrophic. It would make it appear he was just pandering and suggest he didn't believe a woman was capable of the position.

2. The Cuomo folks shouldn't get ahead of themselves. He is one of many of Governors handling the crisis well.. However if you speak to New Yorkers about day to day management he doesn't come highly recommended.

Governors should stay in their states. IMO it wouldn't be fair to remove them during a crisis.

If we're talking Governors I nominate Gina Raimondo .

How is it obvious? Because he's become CNN' s darling?

They're are many qualified people. Many over qualified women. Biden can pick one of them.
Not all of them have journalist siblings to promote them.

I don't know about you I'm over nepotism in politics.

Biden is ready to start vetting VP candidates. He's talked to Obama about his picks and what he is looking for. Two key elements from his comments:

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-biden/biden-to-start-considering-running-mates-consulted-obama-idUSKBN219160
Reuters wrote:Biden said at a Democratic debate last week that he would pick a woman for the job, a qualification he reiterated on Sunday.

Biden also emphasized that the woman would have to agree with his fundamental view on policies, including healthcare, education and the need for expansive U.S. influence in the world. He said he shared that kind of common ground with Obama - whom he served as vice president - although they sometimes differed on tactics.

Above all, the person would need to be qualified to serve as president immediately.

“I’ve actually talked to Barack about this - the most important thing is that it has to be someone who, the day after they’re picked, is prepared to be president of the United States of America if something happened,” said Biden, 77.

He's said there are at least 6-7 candidates. However, a bunch of the current suggestions don't fit his criteria. Warren does not agree on his policies about healthcare which is one of his top priorities. He wants to expand on Obamacare and include a public option. She wants the M4A and a much more blanket overhaul. Their ideas on education are also much further apart.

And despite how many people here want to see it, I don't think that Stacy Abrams fits the latter, a person who is prepared to be president of the USA the day after they're picked. She does not have the experience or large enough scaled skills to handle the job.

I think we are honing in on someone who has been a governor or Congresswoman for a significant period of time. The executive experience of being a governor or the Washington familiarity of being a Congresswoman for a significant period of time would prepare them to step into the office immediately. So candidates like Harris, Klobuchar, Whitmer, Grisham, Duckworth, all still qualify.

I still say that the relatively unknown Michelle Lujan Grisham is the best candidate. She is Latina woman who was the NM Secretary of Health, then served 3 terms in Congress including chairing the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and then was the first Democratic woman elected governor of New Mexico and the first Latina Democratic woman elected chief executive of any state in the union. She has an approval rating of 58%.

Biden especially needs help with Latino voters, that and under 30 voters are his two weakest demographics. Appealing to the under 30 voters is not a winning tactic as Sanders has found out because they are just not reliable voters and you can't guarantee that you'll get enough of them to vote. So he should concentrate on enhancing his popularity with the Latino voters. It's the largest growing demographic in the US and is very significant in several swing races.

She sounds great, but who? is what 95% of voters would say. Give her a cabinet position.

A Latina could just as easily alienate AA voters. AA voters have literally saved the Democratic party and specifically Biden without any thanks elevating a Latina woman to VP before an AA is a slap in the face.
His promise of a AA female judge is meaningless if the Senate isn't turned.

True - black women do not like latinas.

Sorry, you’re wrong. I’ll take a Latina VP, an AA VP, a Gay VP, hell I would take Kermit the Frog as a VP. As long as it is not this administration, we will much improve the current state. Sometimes you political junkies do too much over analysis. People are fighting for their life and livelihood, and Trump is escalating every threat and concern with his pisspoor management, mental incompetence, and band of brothers. People will support, just get Trump and Trump Traitors out of government so we can start repairing the damage!!
