Future “potential” sure, I’ll give you that.

However, that was not the question- he was not the best player in the state last year and wasn’t even close to it.

Who was then?

The Jacksonville commit from West Po was the best player in the state last year in 6A. The Fogo for Langley, the Attack from Madison, and the pole from Robinson weren’t far behind.

VA public school lacrosse is very average- no reason to show how weak they are against the privates- every body already knows it.

Independence is better than 32 of the 39 privates. But agree no match for the elite privates. Most of the privates are very average with exception of the top 10 that are able to attract and recruit the top talent.

Good point! West Potomac beat a middle of the pack private (Bishop Ireton) 17-6 last year. There are a handful of privates that draw in the top talent and those game are amazing to watch. Extremely talented teams loaded with D1 talent.

Middle of the pack? more like 30th out of 39. A convincing win nontheless.

The private public argument is always dumb. The top privates should beat every private with the rare exception here and there. There are not nearly as many “top” privates as people are saying though. Outside of the top 5 privates in VA (STAB, St. Chris, PVI, Christchurch, and Blueridge) there’s not a big difference between public and private.

Also for reference last season of the 20 teams that compete in Virginia independents St Stephen’s was #11 Potomac #12 Ireton #13. I don’t believe any of those teams would have won a region tournament in 6A last year.

You left out Episcopal Woodberry Forrest Norfolk Acedmey collegiate all would be better than almost all publics.

Didn’t Episcopal lose to Langley this fall? Obviously not a game but it definitely shows they’re not light years better than public’s. I would agree that the teams you named would be in the running for a 6A title just like the rest of the top public’s if they were included.

How'd Winter Thaw go?

Are we counting fall games now?

“Obviously not a game”

Episcopal hasn't been relevant since AOL.

There's definitely d1 talent sprinkled all across the state through public programs. Doesn't really matter that much. Playing is college is playing in college so whatever the division, it's a huge accomplishment for any kid to be a college athlete.

JU was good. They were top tier. They are trying to get back. Agreed seeing the field is a big deal. That young man is solid and was under recruited in most peoples minds.

Lots of class of 24 and 25 young men playing D3 at CNU from our area. Lots of other playing at lower level D3 as well.

The only West Potomac player on MD's roster is George Stamos, who is a HS 2022.
