Who are you voting for in the Dem primary for mayor?

I just can't get past that. The only reason I would even consider him is that we all also grew up with a Cuomo and that kid wasn't too loveable either - sketchy guy who no one could really trust and was kind of a jerk.

He fakes his accents depending on who he’s talking to. It’s phony.

I truly am rooting for him to succeed because I am rooting for NYC to succeed. But when he has to deal with Trump or the head of the police union or any of the many other NYC power brokers he has never engaged with, they are going to eat him for lunch and wipe the phony smile off his face very quickly. He will not know what hit him. And we will all suffer for it. And again, this comment has nothing to do with his race, religion, or anything of the sort. People compare him to Obama. Obama was a million times smarter than him, much more life experience (law professor then state assembly for longer than Mamdani before running for Senate), and just much more gravitas and dignity.

I'm anti-Mamdani guy (one of the primary ones) and the news about Tisch makes me very happy. She is great - wish she was running. But he is showing that he wants someone experienced and mainstream around him which is great. Good for him.

And to my enemy here, further proof that I can say positive things about Mamdani and unlike you, I'm not just looking to pick a fight and be adversarial.

It’s Machiavellian on his part. He comforts his detractors and knows she will either reject his overture or resign after he tries to convince her to pull cops off the street en masse. He can then turn around and say the Establishment is trying to stop him.

Right. You’re rooting for him.

Obama was running for President. Mamdani is running for mayor.

Or maybe he’s just a smart and humble enough person to be open to working with others who are more experienced

Where does he say he intends to ‘pull cops of the street en masse’?

I haven’t noticed this. Link.

But it’s called code shifting and is common for people who are ‘other’ and who have moved around to different cultures.

I read that NY billionaire business leaders have spent $3M in just the last few days trying to stop Mamdani. Don’t have enough for tax hikes but sure can pour money into a campaign to stop a democratically chosen candidate.

The going rate for anti Mamdani posts is 7k, people say.

He has a diverse background and has no accent, can connect with many because of his diverse living experiences. Multiculturalism.

He moved here when he was young. Then he went to a fancy private school. He is opportunistically diverse, when it serves him.

Mamdani is who he is. I’ve never seen him pretend to be anything but that.

And only white people can go to fancy private schools? Curious why it’s okay for others to attend private schools, but somehow it’s remarkable and even negative when Mamdani does. Tisch obviously is Uber wealthy but it’s rarely mentioned, except as a net positive.

And obviously Mamdani did go to public for high school.

Talk about jumping to conculsions? No one said only white people can go to fancy private schools. But don't act like you're a man of the people from the hood when you went to private schools (and weren't there through prep for prep or something like that). I find that Mamdani does this a bit but is not too awful about it. So I am not totally bad mouthing him. Just commenting. Unlike you who seem to be drawing conclusions and flying off the handle.

And Tisch's wealth is constantly mentioned. I have never read an article that did not mention it.

So your fact pattern is way off. While your self-confidence in stating those questionable facts is through the roof. Mamdani supporters are so ridiculously defensive - heaven forbid anyone says anything that can be construed as slightly negative about their beloved. It is like MAGA people with Trump.

Flying off the handle? Misogynistic much? Are you going to now ask if I’m on my period?

The point is that Tisch’s wealth is mentioned as a net positive. While somehow M being from a moderately privileged family is apparently proof that he is a ‘phony’ (your words).

So because M went to a private school, he can’t care about working class people? That seems to be what you’re saying. But plenty of great politicians who care about the working class have come from privileged backgrounds. Why is it suddenly an issue for him? And he is not all that wealthy. His mom is a moderately successful film director and his dad is a college prof. He’s not part of the billionaire class, and his refusal to try to kiss their ass is part of his appeal.
