STAB is the best private school in VA this year and it's not even close.

However after the top 4, there is a pretty big drop off this year.

Top 4 already released.

Bullis
SJC
Landon
Gonzaga

USA Lacrosse most recent national top 25

Landon at #16

Bullis at #21.

Not sure one is really better than the other this year but it will work itself out over time.

GZ will crack the top 25 next week with their win over Torrey Pines and assuming the Eagles stomp their Jesuit rivals GP. I believe the Eagles are starting to get hot and will knock off Bullis come Friday night.

SJC at some point needs to win a big game. Yes, they played a brutal gauntlet (no shame in losing to Saint Anthony's or Culver) but the Taft win doesn't mean much given the Rhinos needed overtime to beat Prep. Taft is a shell of a program it once was. Don't believe, watch how their season pans out in the New England West this year. The loss to BL is also suspect as this is the weakest the Lakers have had in years.

If SJC replaced the Non Conference schedule with MSJ, John Carroll, Severna Park, and Riverside and ended up 6-1 they would be ranked. See how meaningless the ranking are and I not at all a SJC fan.

Watched part of that dismantling of EHS yesterday. That was good lax. Loved the clears and rides, kid they had at the X easily won every F/O I saw. Is this the Taft guy’s first year?

More hypotheticals from the SJC fan club.

I don't see anyone who has played the teams you mentioned above with a 6-1 record.

This is Bell's 2nd year. Recruiting is paying off already at STAB. They played Calvert Hall and Bullis close as well. I suspect they will run away with the VISAA title this year.

This is all so silly. Landon and Prep players, alums and parents need to insist that they play SJC every year. If the issue is with SJC, then their side needs to insist. There is no legitimate reason for these top teams not to play each other every year.

Note to some DMV parents - be careful what you wish for. Bell's arrival at STAB was lauded by everyone in the STAB lax community until the influx of new lax recruits started affecting their kids' playing time. No one thinks it will happen to their kid, but anyone can lose their spot.

I mean, that’s always true, if someone better comes along, and they usually do, and definitely do if you’re complacent. But no one has a right to field time. Earn it or pick another place if it’s that important.

Totally agree. Just reminding folks that program success can have consequences.

Sure there is. The coaching staff and, specifically the head coach, makes direct first contact with other schools students and attempts to recruit them to go to St. John's. No school should reward SJC with games when that has been the case.

Charlottesville adults being wishy washy.... No way! My college coach use to tell us every year he was trying to recruit our replacement. It's a good lesson for kids to learn on nothing being given, everything earned. Everyday.

That is a lame excuse. Lots of high school coaches recruit and talk to kids directly. No one saying they won't play STAB, or Lawrenceville, or IMG or Culver. They all (along with many others) reach out to players directly, and I honestly don't see the issue.

I guess local schools don’t agree and SJC is 2-4.

Has STAB always had a boarding component or is this simply to lure in athletic recruits from across the country - similar to what BL does in Baltimore.

I know the school is based in Charlottesville.

There you have it! Parents at Landon pressure coaches to not play SJC. Bunch of crybabies.
