I think they screwed her. Her main project a super contentious issue that no one has been able to truly fix in decades as the border czar? I think she was set up for failure and that's extremely unfortunate given where we are right now.

Yup.

? Young people I know love Harris.

She's very unpopular with young people and progressives because of her prosecution record. I don't know a single person who thinks of Kamala other than "Copmala"

Only Californians really know or care about her history.

Nope. I live in Canada and young progressives call her Copmala.

Good point - I hadn't thought about it that way. The ad just writes itself!!!

Idk. That is not going to play well with a lot of important voters that already don’t trust the system. This is an ad that would appeal to wealthy white liberal women (which is what I assume you are) but I do not think will play will with groups that have a lot of good reason not to trust prosecutors.

Criminals don't generally vote, but hopefully, many would rather trust anyone else other than a convicted criminal and rapist.

The party of law and order *should* prefer a prosecutor over a criminal, but up is down and down is up now, so.

You don’t get it, but that’s expected.

The audience that Harris needs to drive to the polls includes people who aren’t wealthy white women. And that audience doesn’t necessarily trust the process that convicted Trump. So leaning into Kamala as a prosecutor just makes Trump more of a hero/martyr.

There is a reason the RNC convention was oddly inclusive for the Republicans. They are trying to go for a big tent approach. That’s ludicrous on the face of it, but I have to admit it’s a smart strategy.

Love it, LOL! I regularly listen to the speeches and read the transcripts and there’s so much evidence there of both mental decline and mental illness. Let’s hope the media gives it as much attention as it has given attention to Biden‘s old age.

Trump thought Kamala was great at her job as AG. What a great endorsement.

That’s actually a choice that I think makes sense.

I’d love if Pete were selected as VP (him debating Vance would be must see tv) but add homophobia on top of racism and sexism and we’d be really screwed

Oh stop with that nonsense. Pete has been a lousy secretary of transportation and acknowledging that isnt homophobia.

Except Obama did endorse Hillary. And didn’t endorse Biden in 2020 until he was the clear winner.

Publicly. Privately he arranged for Biden to win the nominee by pushing other candidates like Buttigieg to drop out.

Very impressed with how the progressive wing dealt with this. They knew the Dems would take it out on them if another candidate lost, and they knew the Dems would never advocate for Joe to leave if they started yapping about it, so what did they do? They stfu, and AOC gave Biden a stunning amount of praise when asked. They knew they couldn't push for Joe to leave, and it worked.

I want any Democrat or even a moderate Republican (if they exist anymore) - really anyone besides Trump would be a relief. It's as simple as that.

Larry Hogan

I would love Hogan to switch sides and run as a dem. I think he would carry the dems and the non trump reps.

I agree.

That’s a good ticket

+1 male, white, military background, swing state = winning combo

He can go toe to toe with Vance.

He just released his formal statement about 15 minutes ago and he did not endorse anyone or even mention Kamala. Not sure if he’s trying to appear neutral or he really doesn’t think she’s the right choice.

This is normal. He didn't endorse Hillary until she clinched the nomination from Bernie. As a former president he stays above the fray until there is a nominee.

He’s never above the fray. He can’t accept his own errors and bad calls and brazens things out accordingly.

It's true that Obama hasn't publicly said anything about who should replace Biden.

And you know what, Obama has been and continues to be wrong but is put on a pedestal, because he made people feel he was a good president. He was wrong multiple times on his foreign policy, wrong when he told Biden not to run, so Clinton could, and now wrong again for trying to wait it out and give the dems some other person to elect. OBAMA HAS BEEN WRONG.

Who says it was wrong to back Hilary over Biden? Biden would have lost too.

Better than Biden, but not good enough. She needs to get on stage and debate Trump.

He’ll eat her alive. Sad but true!

She's younger and can manage to memorize answers. Trump will seem confused by comparison. If I were Trump, I would refuse any debate. Even if she's as likeable as dishwater, she's more coherent.

She made Justice Beer cry.

I’m voting for the woman who made Brett Kavanaugh cry

You'll have to be far more specific.

And in fact, Pete beat Biden in Iowa until the political machine forced him out of the race. I’d fully endorse a Buttigeig/Mark Kelly ticket

IDK. Just talked to my kids. One attending Oberlin (and voting in Ohio, BTW). And my more moderate kid at a VA State school. Both strongly favor Harris over Biden and think more of Gen Z turns out for her vs sitting at home. (Neither think There is a world in which Gen Z turns out for Trump. It’s turn out for Harris or stay home in their minds).

I’d talk to Gen Z before making sweeping assumptions.
