Does this seem true? |

Almost every study shows it's 2 things
1. For the Rs People of color actually do act out more, and objectively perform at a lower level in school 2. For the Ds Most people are still racist and treat people of color differently |
|
The equal opportunity thing is BS though
There should be universal testing but we shouldn't be bending over backwards and lowering standards to get more people of color in these programs Everyone takes the test/screening if you make the cut great if you don't that's life |
there is a reason the story omits Asians |
| The white/asian students especially boys behave as poorly as the black/latino boys in earlier grades and receive similar amount of discipline and complaint. They become much better in 4-5th grades. Parenting seems playing a role at least partially. |
| I don’t get why those who cone up with these stories omit Asians to skew results to make the school systems seemracist. These a 100% democrat areas. Is this some intersectionality type infighting ? |
What happens if they let more ito AP courses but they don’t get high enough AP scores? The AP courses get cancelled |
As a parent of a 3rd grade boy (white) who was constantly sent to the principal's office in prior years, "informally" suspended, but seems to be really doing better this year, this is interesting. It is personally reassuring but generally worrying. The boys don't all shape up equally? |
The full report does not omit Asians--there's some info there. For example, if you hit "Show all groups," it states that white students are 1.5 times more likely to be suspended than Asian/Pacific Islander students. http://projects.propublica.org/miseducation/district/2400480 |
Not sure if I follow I think I agree with you that opening up AP courses to more people isn't a good idea. Having kids in AP classes who don't really belong hurts the kids that do belong Jay Matthews is an idiot that doesn't mean more students in AP. All students should be Challenged at the appropriate level. Most kids aren't ready for college material in high school |
Yet the article and all the summaries only talk about blacks and Hispanics compared to whites. They chose to omit it. If the data shows racial bias it is in favor of Asians and that’s not a narrative that’s politically useful . Let alone Asian students might just behave better and study more |
Democrats want equality of outcome which means black and Hispanic students wil either have to improve their work ethic or AP courses will get eliminated and thus everyone is treated equally |
| The disparity between Asians and blacks and Hispanics is even greater than the black and Hispanic disparity with whites yet they are hiding it. Why? |
| no more than America as a whole. Most likely less due to the amount of minorities and liberals. |
