So I actually picked up a copy of Simple and Free (the updated version of 7) in a used bookstore, which is the only way I'm buying any of Jen's books moving forward. For all of the pushing of "there are tons of updates!" for Simple and Free, all of the updates in their entirety might amount to 4-5 pages at best. I was really glad I didn't buy the hype and pay retail for it. When I initially read 7, I loved it and bought copies for friends. I especially loved the chapter on cutting out excess stuff and clutter. Fast forward all of these years to post-divorce-shilling-rude Jen and Simple and Free just read differently for me. It's like I could suddenly see that there was a calculating approach behind the scenes of "Look at what God is doing when we cut out the excess." The disrespect for Brandon was subtle, but it was definitely there. I read a used copy of Fierce, etc, around the same time and the disrespect for Brandon was extremely blatant and just cringeworthy. If he had written similar things toward her, we all would've called it an abusive relationship and told her to run. So all this to say that YES there is definitely a glaring undercurrent of her narcissism throughout 7 if you want to save yourself the time of reading it. |
I love the way she posted the football thing, she’s not even from Texas. Why does she make herself look so ridiculous. Isn’t she from like Kansas City, Arkansas or somewhere like that? Why is she wearing a Texas necklace. Get out of here with that, you’re not from my state.!!! |
I just realized I'm still a IG follower of Tina's. She posts a lot gushy things about Brandon, luxury vacations, her new Rolex, and sexy selfies. Her body truly is incredible for her age. She looks like a barely legal porn star. Her fake eyelashes, veneer teeth, and botox just add to the youthfulness. |
I remember when Tina made her profile public for a brief two days or so. She definitely seemed like a kind and joyous person. Materialistic, definitely, but she wore it well.
And I agree, she looks amazing. Obviously she works hard for it but a lot of people work hard and don’t get those results. I don’t see Texas Barbie as an insult in this case. I see it as a high form of praise. Let’s not pit women against each other though. No need to manufacture stories about Jen being envious with zero evidence to back it up. |
I never read "7"...0nly started following Jen Hatmaker recently. So I took a peak at the first chapters--it's insane to me how the person who wrote about being really aware of consumption has ended up selling handbags, gummies, shirts, jeans, etc. all under the guise of how these items might bring joy. I'm absolutely stumped. |
The evidence that Jen is envious of Tina is the terribly bleached hair, tummy tuck and trashy clothes.
Jen is very pretty but the new look is a bit desperate and does not enhance her natural good looks. That makes me sad for her because I hate to think of any woman who isn't comfortable in her own skin...the whole thing is just a slow moving disaster. She has lost her identity and her way and it's hard to watch. |
If Brandon bought it…it’s a fake Rolex. |
I don't know why Brandon posts all those sexy pictures of Tina. He has to know it will hurt Jen. Seems very selfish of him. If Jen looks, it must kill her. It's all so sad. |
Why does Jen post sexy videos with Tyler? She’s got to know it will hurt Brandon!

. Didn't that all start after HGTV? |
They really thought they’d blow up from that show. I remember Jen wrote a blog post addressing concerns about a pastor and his wife so shamelessly seeking fame. Her counter argument could be summed up as “we’re gonna do what we wanna do”. |

Jesus. Her followers/members/etc must have fallen dramatically. I wonder if she's being pressured to get them back up by an agent or editor or something. |
Yeah, after pre-ordering one of Brandon's books and being promised a "personal journal" and then receiving a stapled, paper pamphlet, I have zero faith in any promises made by Jen or Brandon. |
